Mystery Box (for those don't know now you do)

Thanks so much for bringing back this long forgotten match. Like night and day Earl's past interaction with the crowd compared to the present. His firepower was just starting to kick into gear and brought home the cheese for years to come. Myself, I loved playing on gold/tan cloth. While it...

Who is the Person that has influenced your Pool Life the most?

Back in the late 60's early 70's I decided to become a pool player. Freshly enrolled in college, I discovered a few 24 hour pool rooms in Austin, TX. Being a night person, my journey began. Old man Lowry he was called. Husband of Wilma Lowry who ran Moyers, action central in the Lone Star...

    Old cue from a championship?

I think there would be quite a number of collectors who might go a few rounds for this cue.

So what is considered a high end cue ?

I have seen plenty of high end production cues, and own quite a large lumber yard of such. Until the recent price drop of cnc machines, only production cue companies had the capabilities of amazing 4 axis work. Apologies to Thomas Wayne of course. By recent, I mean the last 10-20 years.

This post has absolutely no value until JB comes in and starts wolfing. 10K....wow...congrats...I think.

An open conversation on what pool in North America needs and can support.

He needs to talk to someone that has already done it.....and not someone who has ideas on how to do it.....albeit...me or Randy G. As far as the industry matching his contribution, I don't think there is enough money being made by all the manufacturers combined to reach that goal. Maybe over...

2016 European Masters (Ronnie's to Lose)

Thanks for the link to the match,,,,I haven't had much success finding a decent link. I seem to play a ball or two better after watching the Rocket.

    WTB McDermott M11B

The Star S1 is a similar cue but with no brass insert in the shaft. I believe it to be a superior cue than even the original McD sneakies.

Any videos of the "old" 2-foul 9-ball?

1983-1985....Breakers billiards, Austin, TX.....Texas Open....I put these rules into effect...first major event with BIH even after the break, and only the 9 spots. I also created the name. Regardless of the naysayers, it was the best thing to happen to tournament play for the last 50 years.

    Happy birthday, Bill Porter

I found many pics of me from ages ago on Bill's smugmug account. Sadly, none of them had me actually playing, but just playing the part of a spectator. I roasted a few legends during these events and also lost to some C players. I was always accompanied by hot chick and she got most of the...

Why call a shot impossible after you just madeit?

I think this thread about impossibilities deserves a quote of mine from ages ago..... Anyone who doesn't believe in miracles....has never played pool.

    Pool Ball Collecting.

If I remember correctly, the bits and pieces are the same thing that linoleum flooring was made of.

    Hardcase Cover

What we used to do to protect our Fellini cases was to make case socks out of the legs of blue jeans. Just cut the legs off...sew up the end. Wifey would attach a drawstring to the open end even sewed on a shoulder strap so we could tote it around with no worries of scratching it up.

    Jim Rempe is selling his personal table. Collectors Item Indeed <<<===={{{{{{

Personally I think the price is too low. I would have asked 20K. Many moons ago when the oilfield was ginning, this would have already been on a truck on its way to south Texas. JR was the first true pro player that I had dealings with, and I held him in the highest regard. The table would...

8th Annual Robin Workman Memorial Fall Classic

One of these days I will take another extended road trip and Starcade will be at the top of my list of must return to places. Robin Workman and Andy Grubbs were 2 of my favorite room owners and it breaks my heart not to be able to attend the events held in their honor. Good luck...
