Why is the APA so frowned upon?

You are right. Some captains are tournament savvy. And a lot of them also cheat. I am not saying everyone cheats but in my area a good percentage of the teams that go every year do.

    Load Bearing Pole

Contact a local Professional Engineer and have them look at it. Chances are there is something that can be done to solve your issue. The solution will be done right. It will be done to code and it will be safe for your family. The main thing is that you do not want to do something that could...

Why is the APA so frowned upon?

Your first two sentences answer your question in my opinion. "No league offers as much to gain as the APA". This is true - buy an APA franchise and you can make more money off pool players than any other league. Remember, an APA franchise IS a BUSINESS. "There are many ways to get to Vegas...

    Most powerful stroke ever?

To be serious though. The Russian player Evengy Stalev sp? had one of the strongest strokes I have ever seen personally. Must have been from starting out playing pyramid billiards and those large balls.

Question for all the league players

I was proud when I got moved to a 9 handicap in APA 9 Ball. Later on, when my handicap started severely limiting my teams options on who could play I had to leave the team. This opened up some handicap growth potential for the other players. The whole thing is pretty sad when you consider that...

    Sandbagging at APA National level

I have been out 3 times for Team 8 Ball, 2 times for Jack N Jill, once each for doubles and masters. I have only seen one instance where I could call it "blatant" sandbagging and that was in a mini. However, I am also convinced that a team will not get past 64th-65th without a couple of...

    Where do you play?

I play at all three. The BCA league I play in is out of a pool hall. The VNEA league I play in is traveling and is played at bars. I have a table at home that I practice on. I also play in a few local tournaments which are played at either a bar or a pool hall depending on the night.

Need dimensions for metal rack to hold triangle on a GC II

I currently have a and older GC table that is missing the metal rack that holds the triangle. Rather than ordering/ buying a replacement, I was going to fabricate one out of some 1/4" round bar that I have out in my shop. However, I need the dimensions. Could someone who has access to the...

Will SVB be the top American player of all time?

I agree with Rich on this one. This is a bit off topic from the original post - apologies in advance. For those of you who like good books on billiards/pool. Hoppe wrote an autobiography "Thirty Years in Billiards" in which was published in 1925 and reprinted in 1975 ISBN 0-486-23126-7. The...

How to get smoke smell out of a case??

What works for me is that I take the cues out of the case and insert a bounce dryer sheet down each of the compartments in the case, being careful to leave enough sticking out so you can remove the sheet. I then put the lid back on the case to seal it up. Let it sit for a day or so and you will...

    Newer Schon Joint Size

You are correct. A shaft that is made for a 5/16 by 14 pin will fit on a Schon no problem as it is a hair bigger than the Schon pin. However, A Schon Shaft will not fit on a NON-Schon cue with a 5/16 x 14 pin as the the threads on the shaft are smaller than a 5/16 x 14. Follow this link over...

    Newer Schon Joint Size

I do not think that a Schon Shaft will fit on a 5/16 x 14 pin. I believe the threads on the Schon are a bit under 5/16 x 14 which keeps the Schon shafts from being interchangble with another makers cue. I have a couple of cues with a 5/16 x 14 pin and I own two Schon cues. The 5/16 x 14...

HUH? I don't get your point. If someone has a gambling problem that is not under control DO NOT GO TO VEGAS! I had a team-mate on one of my teams this year that has a drinking problem but it is under control. One night, after our match everyone was discussing where we were going etc etc. When...

Leaving APA (not your everday bashing)

I came to the same conclusion about 4-5 years ago. I think you will look ba:thumbup:ck after the move and ask why you did not leave earlier. I know I did.
