Tell a best experience dealing with a cuemaker

I recently sent a Chuck Starkey cue into him for a re-finish and a new shaft. The whole transaction took less than two weeks from when I mailed it out to the time it came back. Granted, I think he happened to have a shaft already built that matched what I was looking for in diameter and rings...

    Richard Black

Blacks website is showing that a standard Black Baron is 2450. Unless they have really modified it or done something special to make it worth another 650 above a new one, 3100 sounds a bit high for a used cue. Especially when you can order one to your specs for less.

Who is the GREATEST Living Cue Maker? *Take the test*

    Ditto what Tate just posted.

    Sugartree or Tascarella?

I would first clear my mind from any outside advice you have been given. See if you can play with both cues side by side. Be honest with yourself, and take the one that you are most comfortable with. Warning if you are not honest with yourself your arm will remember and remind you of the fact...

How Many Cues Are Too Many To Own????

IMHO Five Hundred and Ninety Four. That is one for every month I have been on this earth. Of course it will go up next month. Hope to hit 1200 someday.

Seriously considering moving to Waco, TX

If you are looking to move to Texas and want to be centrally located, The Waco area is really a good choice. You can reach the majority of the population in the state within a 3 hour drive. It is also big enough to have most the amenities of the larger cities without the traffic levels that...

    Schön 5/16x14 thread

The Schon 5/16 x 14 pin is actually a bit smaller in diameter than 5/16" and so is the threads in the shafts. What that means is that a standard 5/16 x 14 shaft will screw on the Schon butt and a Schon shaft will not just screw on any other makers 5/16 x 14 butt. As far as the outer diameter...

    Pool shooting shoes

If you are looking for a comfortable pair of athletic shoes to wear. I would suggest you find a shoe store in your area that caters to the distance runners (not talking sporting goods store but a specifically a running shoe store). Go in and have them fit you for a pair of shoes. Basically...

    Sad news about Jack White

Sad to hear that. I remember him coming to Texas Tech and putting on a show and a tourney in the late 80's and early 90's.

Live Stream Info for CSI Invitationals & Challenge Matches (July 17-25)

Ozzy, Will the matches be on a stream/TV channel to the guest rooms at the Rio like last year? If so, thanks. In my opinion, that was one of the best benefits of staying on site.

Airline travelling with Instroke 3 x 7 Cowboy

You can buy an bat/equipment bag for baseball/softball gear. They have a compartment for storing bats that is just the right size for a pool cue case. The rest of the bag has enough room for your clothes. All in all they are just the right size for your cue and several days change of clothes...

drinking a beer while playing at the BCA nationals

Yes, they have bars set up around the tournament area (or at least they did last year). Please note that I am commenting on the amateur tourney not sure if they have a rule against it for the pros.

    APA league operator issues

You're LO is doing you a big favor by letting you know that you have several players that are on the verge of going up in handicap. At least you now know how everyone stands handicap wise for the championship and your team can plan on how to approach the tourney. Look at the bright side, your...

So what's the deal with glove hatred in the pool room?

I do not normally play with a glove. However, I carry one in my case. They come in real handy when you are playing in a place that the AC is not keeping up and or the humidity is high. I live in the Houston area and that comes up frequently.

I can't stand the APA.. So I joined.

Best of Luck with the new team. Are you playing 9 Ball? If so, remember that you can't roll out after the break in APA. As a 9 handicap that was the one rule that always endeared me to the the league. :( With that being said, I do have some great memories and met some friends while playing...
