    My new spindle and VFD

Joey, as these are three phase motors however the VFD creates the 3 phase motors by modulating a DC bus. You will want to make sure that the VFD that you use is rated to except 220 single phase in. This should not be an issue. I am with Royce, for any spindle that I get that I don't want ATC, I...

    Band saw or table saw?

I have both. I will take the bandsaw over table saw any day. I use the table saw in rare occasions to make fixtures. Too bad it is a nice one. Now a band saw is great for re sawing and splitting point wood. Jim

    inlay cuts

Bill, the standard for inlay parts is at .125". The limitation does not stop at the part not going in deep enough so as to not get sides cut out but also the depth of cut that the end-mill is capable of. A standard 1/32 end-mill typically only cuts .125" deep. It would be smart as Dick pointed...

    cnc problem

Bill, are both sides of your table slick? If you are using the table that I made you one side should be rough. If not then run the table top through a drum sander and rough it up in one side. It is PVC sheet and will sand easy so take a lite pass on it. Jim

    cnc problem

Ok Bill, I have viewed the program that you sent me. I don't see any wavy lines however, I noticed that you have two separate tool paths. Are you using a PC or a laptop? You are cutting at 5 ipm so I don't think you are running too fast. If I understand your explanation of your issue your...

    Wood veneers (snake wood)

I wouldn't waste figured wood in an area where all you would see is redish brown. You will not be able do tell what the veneer was unless it was a recut and at least .125 to .250 inch not cut away. At this pint it is no longer a veneer. Hope this helps Jim

What Cad software, ver. and post are you using.

DanO, your welcome. I do admire an individual as yourself who builds their own machine and gets great results from it. I hate to admit, I get just as much satisfaction on building equipment as I do cues. Jim.

What Cad software, ver. and post are you using.

Where are you trying to go with bobcad? I maybe able to help. Can I assume you are using Mach 3 for your machine? Jim.

What Cad software, ver. and post are you using.

Steve, M codes are specific to machines. Machine code. That is why bobcad does not handle them specifically well other than standard codes. M98 will work I guess however, I don't use Bobcad's subroutine. I hard coded mine into the post processor and it works great. If you want, I would be happy...

What Cad software, ver. and post are you using.

I just wanted to open up a discussion of what software everyone is using out there to create their G-code for CNC work. I am currently using Bobcad v24 with a post that I created myself for easily creating indexes for me on my A axis. I do have V25 however, I have found that others that I work...

    Refinish for Gabe

Very nice. I met your son at the Derby City Classic a few years ago. I seriously doubt he would remember me. You should be proud as he turned out to be a great guy. Oh yea, great work on the Q. Jim.

    Coring Issue....

Are you step drilling the entire length of your wood? A good gun drill only needs a proper starter hole. The drill may wander slightly however when your core is glued in the wood is trued up to the core. This is why I always use the exit hole as my front. Jim.

New In Box SIX 6 INCH DIAL VERNIERCALIPER .001 GRAD

Nice That is a nice set however, they are only worth about $40 plus shipping. Most guys use either cheap or expensive digital calipers. I would take those over a cheap digital set any day. That is a nice find though. Too bad you don't know how to use them. They are not hard to figure out...

my old cues for sale darren appleton

Please provide pictures of the broken cue. It is hard to determine value of this item without knowing the damage. I would not worry about singing it. After it is repaired it will most likely need re clear coated anyway and the signature would be lost. Jim

    They are ready.

Thanks Gary, I am glad that was helpful. Here is another bit of useful information. You may already know this however, if you touch off your cutter and take a pass on a piece of wood, put an M01 in your program at the end of your cut. Place it before your cutter retracts from the part. This...

    Chinese CNC

This machine could be used. Randy, this machine could be used for your intended purpose. However it will need some work done to it. I would assume that no support will be given. If it where it will not help you. I think you are looking for something that will work out of the box. This is not...
