Need help on a spray booth

I don not need anyone to tell me that. I have visited several other cue makers shops. All but on spins the cue. And the exception still sprays on his finish. Epoxy clear coat and or CA glue is a good finish for a newbie however is not good for the long hall. Auto clear or UV should be the best...

    Left Handed Lathe

Chris citizen makes a Swiss cnc lathe that way. They can go either so they can put two machine next to each other with bar feeders going the same direction.

    Inlay dots

Those are a little thin. I would put them in at finished size. You will not be able to take a finished pass on the cue afterwards. You need to sand the inlays to the cue. Also when you cut the inlays in make sure that there is no run out in the cue or set your tool height to every index...

    Electronic calipers opinions

Stick with Mitutoyo. Buy a good used one on e-bay. You will be happier for it. The cheapies will work but they are rough. Now if you sell your work cheap then buy cheap. IMO this is not the area to be cheap. However if others are using then then yes buy the cheap ones.

    Snakewood Sealer

Jim, I need to make up a snakewood butt sleeve real soon. I say make up as I would not use a solid piece. I believe it is more common now to pie laminate the snakewood. It should be ok in small pieces like inlays or even points however if left intact as solid or even cored it will crack. I have...

    Replacing rack on Hightower deluxe

I like the upgraded rack and pinion Chris offers. If you do not have that then get it. If your rack is just loose, adjust the pinion. It rides in an adjustable tube that is eccentric. Jim.

    Tag head stock problems?

It is not that hard to reverse the spindle. Take the locking nut off the one side. Just be careful when you press the spindle out the other side not to damage the bearings. They do reverse pretty easily. You are correct that the locking screw for the spindle will be on the other side. Not a big...

    BEFORE carbide mandrels

Lee, the reason that you do not want to use a maint arbor is that they are too soft. Sanding mandrels will not change size easily when sanded on. If you have a Good set you will find that your joint will come together smoothly with less effort. They are made up in sets that are ground together...

    Powerfeed Help - Carriage Binding

To the OP, please don't follow this guy. He is obviously stuck in a particular learning stage and will not be able to move forward. I am sure that the carriage is loose as hell. The Taig based lathe will build a guy cue, don't get me wrong. It was not made to move back and forth on the bed for...

    A Cue maker's credentials

Darn it. I have been wondering about that. Not sure if I will get some this year or not. If I do, I will make sure I rub it in. Jim.

The carriage is not very wide. Get your load as centered over the bed as you can. The carriage may be twisting in you. Jim

    Powerfeed Help - Carriage Binding

Please don't be offended however the taig dovetail system is not a good system to power feed. Sooner or latter you will have issues. Jim.

    Engraving help

Check the run out in your spindle. If you have a fair amount of run out you will break your bits more easily. A better spindle will most likely fix this. Jim
