    Group discussion on The Diamond

Grace, I was just curious about what you are going to do with the "unknown" amatures that show up. Myself and a few others are going to try and make it to at least the Kitchener/Waterloo events but the only thing we have ever played in that gave you a rank was our local VNEA league. I am an 8...

A different game of POKER POOL!!!!

Played this game a ton of times (though we play for loonies, not fives) and it is great fun. One rule we use is that if I shoot a ball in that you also have in your hand you cannot put your card down on the table until it is your turn. This makes it so a player cannot be beaten on his own turn...

    Rules for "Golf"

This is interesting as I never knew about this type of "golf" billiards game. I have a erasable marker board that I got for a birthday that has a "golf" bnilliards game on it but it is nothing like what was stated above. There are 18 holes and each one is a different type of rack formation. All...

    Billiard chairs

Maybe there's a handy AZ member out there who would like to build some chairs. I would love to add a few spectator chairs to my room but the cheapest ones I have found were about $300 each and I just don't have the kind of cash.

Well done Charles for the donation and also SD for the move. Some day when I can afford to get my Diamond I will gladly donate my table.

    Opposite handed

Maybe once every couple of weeks I will try and have a practice session only using my right hand (I'm lefty) and I would say my stroke is comparable to an average banger. I am a little on the short side (5'4") so I tend to use my right hand when the CB is on the rail. I am pretty good with the...

Need advice/opinions on best way to travel with cues

When I went out west I packed my cues in my suitcase diagonally but I didn't have a case at that time (the case wouldn't have fit). I bought a case while I was out there so I shipped the cues home seperate from the luggage. Didn't cost a whole lot to ship them and I felt much safer with...

What do you do with old pool balls ?

I have seen a few tables that were made using old pool balls. You can cut them in half or keep them whole, put them in a frame and throw a piece of glass over top. If you don't want to use them you can send them to me  As far as the cannon thing goes search the web on how to build a...

is $1.50 too much for a game of pool?

I truely laughed when I read through this thread. You guys are all saying $1.50 is far to much and some of you can still play for $.50 per game. I am gonna have to move I guess because it has been $1.50 a game around my area for two years already. Even at our big league tournament every year it...

Sometimes We, As Poolplayers, Take Things a Little Too Seriously

Its definatly going to cost you more than $50 to get another shot at her. Good win though.

Advice on table size and placement in game room

Unless you are a big fan of bar boxes I would go with an 8 footer. Your room is almost the exact same size and layout as my game room in my basement. I have a fireplace that sticks out in one corner of my room and if you happen to have to shoot from that corner it can be a real pain in the ass...

Using the mechanical bridge - should it be banned?

Well I think I am tired of this topic. I am going to head home and practice using the rake

Using the mechanical bridge - should it be banned?

With the bridge in the game both short and tall players have the same ability to reach all shots on the table. With the bridge out a short player is at a disadvantage because he/she will not be able to reach the same shots as the taller player, thus making the game lopsided. When talking about...

Using the mechanical bridge - should it be banned?

I was hoping someone would say this. Though the bridge makes reaching the shot easier, it does not make playing the shot easier. Using the bridge is a skill on its own, just like using a jump cue, kicking a ball or hitting out of the sand in golf. Taking the bridge out of pool will make the game...

Using the mechanical bridge - should it be banned?

Ultra, without the rake would I get an extra spot from you because you are 8" taller than I am?

Using the mechanical bridge - should it be banned?

Ultra I am going to have to strongly disagree with your post. My first question to you is how tall are you? I am 5'-4" (thus the name) and I have had many shots on a 7' table that I have had to use the mechanical bridge. The length of a player's arms should not be used as a defensive strategy in...
