    Companion Lathe vs CustomCueLathe (Bassel)

    Neither.....I'd buy a Hightower.

    cuemakers which tip personal cue

I fell in love with the Sniper the first time I put one on. I occasionally try something different, but I always end up putting a Sniper back on.

    Simple Tulipwood player

Thanks Matt! No, it's not cored. I, personally, don't believe in coring (I'll probably get some sh*t for that :p). I've been turning this one over the course of 3 years, so I feel confident that it shouldn't move any at this point. Besides, I agree that Tulipwood gives a nice hit. I...

    Simple Tulipwood player

I had originally planned to inlay this cue, but decided the Tulipwood looked good enough on it's own. Specs: 18.9 oz. (14.8 butt / 4.1 shaft) balanced 18 1/2" from butt cap 13mm dia. tip .850" dia. joint (Black phenolic) 1.250 dia. Butt cap (Black phenolic) 3/8-10 joint pin Titan ferrule LePro...

    water born finish

Thanks Rick! I've actually bought from them before, but I prefer the 3M Sandblaster paper. Regardless, it's not the sandpaper that's the problem. If you try to sand the Enduro before it cures properly, it's like smearing glue into the grit. It will load up anything:(

    Curly Maple with Birdseye

I can't remember where I got the piece of wood for this forearm, but it is somewhat unique with the curl AND a light birdseye. Specs: 19.3 oz. (15.2 butt / 4.0 shaft) balanced 18 1/2" from butt cap 13mm dia. tip .850" dia. joint (Mahogany phenolic) 1.250 dia. Butt cap (Mahogany phenolic) 3/8-10...

    water born finish

Enduro Clear Poly When you refer to the General Finishes Clear Poly, I assume you're referring to the Enduro Clear Poly. It's my favorite of all the water based clear coats I've tried. I started buying it from the guy out in California (Compliant Spray Systems) who originally developed it...

    Holly, Ebony and Bubinga

Not so much. Thanks for the kind words! Actually, the inlays are not near as delicate as those done by many of the cuemakers I admire. I still have a long way to go with my CNC work, but it's coming along :D

    Holly, Ebony and Bubinga

I was happy with the way the design came out, but, unfortunately, there were some "spots" in the Holly that didn't show up till the final turn. Still a good looking cue IMHO. Specs: 18.2 oz. (14.2 butt / 4.0 shaft) balanced 19" from butt cap 13mm dia. tip .850" dia. joint (Rosewood) 1.250...

    I love Bocote!

Here's another one I recently finished. Specs: 19.1 oz. (15.1 butt / 4.0 shaft) balanced 18 1/2" from butt cap 13mm dia. tip .850" dia. joint (Mahogany phenolic) 1.250 dia. Butt Sleeve boring issues

I do it in steps If your simply loading a 1/2" drill and going to town, that could be the problem. I've got one of Chris's Mid-Size lathes and I always drill in steps when going to that size. After center drilling, I start with a 1/4" drill, then 3/8" and then 1/2". I've found that it's also...

    Plain Jane Wrapless

Must be an optical illusion The same program was used for both. I'm guessing that it's angle of the picture that may make it look that way. Although it does look better in the black phenolic than it does in the mahogany, the "sharpness" is a problem with my cheap camera (and my lousy...

    what to buy

Here's one I just finished You didn't specify exactly what your looking for in a cue, so I just thought I'd throw this one up for your consideration. I offer a money-back guarantee on all my cues. If you don't like the cue after you receive it, return it in original condition and I'll...
