    (Un)Popular Opinion on Fargo Rate

I know there's no putting the genie back in the bottle but this whole discussion makes me pause and wonder: Is FR good for pool? Lou Figueroa

Yapp winning, with a foul! Just like Maradona making a goal with his hands :D

Personally I don't care about who won. To me this is a base issue: any pool player worth his salt knows when he's fouled. End of story. Lou Figueroa

1990 US Open Sigel & Varner - 5 Inch Pockets

I don't know specifically about the 10 footer Miz was talking about but I used to play on the 10' Brunswick tables at The Palace in downtown SF and those tables, not only had generous pockets bigger than 4.5, they had very shallow shelves. Lou Figueroa

Not the kind of foul we're talking about. Lou Figueroa not talking about hair fouls either in the case the women

1990 US Open Sigel & Varner - 5 Inch Pockets

People will often say that great players of yesterday would adjust to the tighter pockets more common today but IMO only some of them would be able to adjust. The fact of the matter is that some of the older time greats had some pretty wonky mechanics and I’m not so sure they would all be able...

Yapp winning, with a foul! Just like Maradona making a goal with his hands :D

What I know, having played for more than a few years, is that your pool cue becomes a part of your body — an extremely sensitive part of your body. In some instances you can foul with your pool cue and be fully confident that *no one* but you knows you’ve fouled… unless there is video that...

Things I Don't Understand at the Pool Room

I'm sure there's a bunch of them but here are two to start off: 1. Why, in -- literally a big empty pool room -- will someone come in and take the table next to you. 2. Why, after taking said table, will that individual start shooting drills or a practice shot, from the end of the table...

What drills are best to get that smooth stroke like Buddy Hall , or Chris Melling?

IMO, you should forget about those guys. You don't have their limbs and body and see things the way their eyeballs did. Learn to work with what you have. If you look at all the bestest players you will find a multitude of strokes deployed from long and smooth, to a short punch, and all kinds...

If the lag is a skill shot, there's a better way

Well, broadly speaking, if you’re in an event where you’re going to lag… it is not a thing. Put another way: no one cares. Lou Figueroa

If the lag is a skill shot, there's a better way

I've played in more than my share of big tournaments and my experience has been that you and your opponent generally get a rack to do whatever you want to warm up. I usually pocket a couple of balls, hit a few banks, some kicks, and a couple of lags. I can't imagine any opponent or official...
