    Bullwinkle

Thanks John! I may reconsider it. Bouncing around the idea of perhaps tooling one next time...maybe a basketweave. We'll see.

    Bullwinkle

Actually had occasion to use it tonight...worked out great. Very happy with it. Thanks for all the comments. Very much appreciated. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk

    Bullwinkle

I know they would sell...but I wouldn't be making anything off of them. If I had some way in which to cut the pieces other than individually by hand...that would be one thing. There is also time in on the grinding to get it right, then burnishing the edges. That's two days...easy. There is...

    Bullwinkle

I call it Bullwinkle. Four layers of 4-5 oz leather laminated together. Too time-consuming to make to sell...but pretty happy with the results, for the most part. Lisa Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk

    snake juma for mr. lenoxmjs

I was referring to the finished pic. The raw pic looks about like mine looks after the finish was applied. With that said...like bocote and some rosewoods...I am sure they come in all shades. Still a stunning cue...everything on it works!

I agree with Eric...my Lauro Preto cue is not dark like that either. And mine is loaded with little birdseyes. As a playing wood...plays ridiculously well! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk

    Jim Baxter Cues

We all know that Jim makes some pretty snappy joint protectors. Well, he also makes some very pretty cues. Last night I had the pleasure to get a first hand look at one of Jim's cues. The fit and finish was on par with what is to be expected on a custom cue. Meaning that the finish was clean...

    Tipping custom cue maker

Worked as a casino dealer for many years. When I go out to my local tavern, I get treated very well. Usually, by the time I get my cue out and everything set up to play, my drink is already at my table. I also get charged less for my drinks. Why? Because when I get treated well, I tend to...

    Newer Cues vs, Older Cues

Oh, I agree! Whatever finish Keith is using works amazingly. There have been a few occasions when I thought for sure that I had accidently dinged the butt, only to find not one ding, mark, scuff or otherwise in the finish. Good stuff! I also think that until the advent of the big pin...older...

    Newer Cues vs, Older Cues

I think you can blend the two, and have amazing cues. As has been previously mentioned...newer glues and finishes help to stabilize cues better these days, which will lead to a longer life span. New machinery now alllows for a myriad of inlay techniques, and can really blow open what can be...

Problem uploading images in Manage Attachments

Which is why I just upload any photos to Photobucket, and then paste the image data directly in the post. Allows for more and larger pics without the restrictions in the Image Management for the different formats. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk

It's a copy not a tribute ~ Can we be honest?

How in the f' is is not imaginative?!!! Someone had to IMAGINE it in a cue...same goes for the reptile skeleton...it took TW's imagination to not only see it in a cue, but to then execute it flawlessly. It takes zero imagination to rehash the same ol' design over and over again......ZERO...

It's a copy not a tribute ~ Can we be honest?

So what 'art' was he copying when he did the reptile Skeleton cue? Or the Dem Bones cue? That's what you call imagination. Kinda renders your argument invalid, doesn't it? Now if someone recreates either of these cues...and I know that one was in fact copied...it's call design theft, and...

It's a copy not a tribute ~ Can we be honest?

Tell Thomas Wayne, or Jerry McWhorter, or Jake Hulsey, or Eric Crisp, or several other makers that...just sayin'.

Are there many scamers here on AZ trying to steal peoples cues?

I get what you're saying...but for some people, it might be worth it. Not everyone is as versed in buying and selling cues as yourself or others here...LOTS of people just getting into the cue bug thing. In all honesty, they're the one's most likely to get scammed or to encounter a bad deal...

It's a copy not a tribute ~ Can we be honest?

I believe mia's point is that some makers have made it a habit to do these types of cues...over and over and over again. After a while, it shows a lack of imagination....variety being the spice of life and all.

Are there many scamers here on AZ trying to steal peoples cues?

Apparently...there are many more that don't, or there wouldn't be the number of 'bad deals' threads that have occurred in the last few years. Standing behind what you sell shows integrity...something that appears to be diminishing in today's day and age. Heck, some of the sellers here lately...

It's a copy not a tribute ~ Can we be honest?

Bad example...since Gibson and Fender are selling copies, or to be more correct, re-issues of models that they themselves originally produced. Not the same thing at all. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
