Good point about the balls. I made a ball polisher for my Brunswick Centennials. After polishing using Meguire's, the balls look great and play much faster with more English. Immediately after polishing, you have to watch out for the skid though.
I would guess good rails and Simonis 860 cloth, stretched and installed properly. I played an APA regional tournament several years ago on new Valley tables with freshly installed Simonis 860. They played beautifully.
I think the primary problems with most bar tables is that owners refuse to...
Asked the same question my self. After several boxes where 85% we unusable, the last box I purchase was probably 70% usable. Still not great QC but better.
On the plus side, the good LePros's are great tips. They're just hard to find.
Well said. A good player in 8 ball gets out when he can and ducks when he can't. It's very effective because the only ball that counts is the 8 ball.
It's more difficult in 9 ball because the weaker player keeps pecking away, pocketing a ball every now and again. But each one counts.
That...
I may be elevating more than I realize but I try to keep it as level as possible. I know when I see the weaker players jack up about 30 degrees, they're gonna miss by a mile.
Might be time to get out the camera and see how close to level I really am. More later...
I disagree. You can shoot with an almost dead level cue if you have a good tip and keep the tip as close to the rail as possible, even brushing it. I've been doing it his way for longer than I care to admit.
Looks fishy to me, also. How difficult could it be to take a picture of the actual chalk being sold? At a minimum, they should state that the pictures are not of the item being sold. And it's not cool to use someone else's pics without their knowledge.
Last year? That's an eternity in APA rules interpretation. I could never get the same answer week to week when I played. Our LO had a local by-laws document that was kind of like Bigfoot. There were folks who believed it existed but I could never find any hard evidence of an actual sighting. But...
It's like anything else in life. You find someone you trust and stick with 'em. If they violate your trust, find someone else.
I, for one, would never lie to a customer. And if, for any reason, they lose their trust in me, I will recommend someone else to them. It's all about integrity, not...
I try to keep the cue as level as possible. The biggest mistake I see is players jacking up the rear of the cue and putting accidental masse on the cue ball. I guess it comes from fear of miscues. But a good tip chalked properly will not miscue on a level stroke.
I use and like both. They serve very different purposes. I use FB to connect with friends and family. Many of my childhood friends who now live hundreds or thousands of miles from each other now talk on a regular basis.
AZB is much more focused and less personal. But that's also a strength. I...
I agree. A company interested in quality would destroy those products that don't meet specs.
I've seen many Meucci's locally that I suspected we're seconds but weren't marked. However, I do have a Meucci Original that hits a ton. I'm about to pack it up and send to Mike Erwin for a refinish...
If you think push shots aren't controversial, you haven't played in my area. And pointing it out in the rule book generally just gets the opponent more agitated. It's almost as bad as not marking your pocket.
I've seen a couple of stalemates in the APA. Both were where the 8 ball was deep in the pocket and blocked by the opponents ball. The opponent couldn't move their ball without making the 8 ball and the 8 ball couldn't be hit directly.
I think the rule is that if both players make no attempt to...
I don't care whether there's a rule or not. If a player starts breaking down their cue, I immediately stop shooting and say "Concede?". If they reach in the pocket, I immediately stop and help them empty the pockets.
It usually doesn't take but one time to stop the obnoxious behavior. What I...
Rewording would be nice since it's obvious from the posts that it's not 100% clear. And adding to the confusion is the fact that LO's have the opportunity to enact "local by-laws" that override the national rules. Anyone besides me think that local rules are insane? Doesn't it compromise the...
I played one session in a league. It's some kind of tough. The only thing I disliked about it was playing the ghost just didn't feel like league or tournament play to me. it's a great way to improve your game though.
