new and imppoved glove poll - please revote!!!

Glove makes sense but I just can't convince myself to try one. I always keep a damp towel handy and wipe down my cue and hands pretty regularly so humidity is not much of a problem. This also keeps my cues looking nice and new.

    This is disturbing...

My understanding is that there was a fair amount of blood involved but he refused to go to the hospital. BTW, I'm picking up the busted butt tomorrow and will post pics.

Is q wiz ok to use on your shaft??

IMHO, the best way to maintain a shaft is to wipe it down with a slightly damp towel every 3-4 racks. Immediately, use the dry part of the towel to make sure you don't leave any moisture. It works amazingly well and you aren't removing any wood.

    This is disturbing...

It's a good question. I'll try to get my hands on the cue and post pics.

    This is disturbing...

Friend of mine showed me what used to be a beautiful Schon. Guy in a bar fight hit another guy in the head with the cue and broke the butt in half. It's disturbing to me that you could do that kind of damage on someone's head. But my first thought was why didn't he grab a house cue? :frown:

    Names from the past

One of the top players in Augusta had the misfortune of gambling with Barefoot. He lost over 20K. I remember folks talking about Barefoot for years after that.

    1970 Meucci

Mike Erwin is currently refinishing two Meucci cues for me. He is great to deal with and I understand his work is top notch.

Fiberglass or maple debate .... help!!

My biggest complaint with fiberglass coated shafts is that they feel "sticky", especially in humid environments. I suppose you could wear a glove, but I'm not crazy about those either.

    Names from the past

Guy named "Barefoot" came through Augusta, GA in the late 60's, maybe early 70's. Cleaned everyone out over a period of 3-4 days. I heard he was from Atlanta but nobody was really sure. Never heard anything else about him.

Just bought it for my wife. She won't turn it loose yet.

Sombody help old low tech Alfie

Tap Tap Tap. It's a passion of mine also. I just added photo scanning to my business and immediately picked up a contract to process several thousand photos. My wife thinks I'm nuts (she's probably right) but the old photos in Cracker Barrel fascinate me. I wonder if they're original photos or...

    Schon CX Cues

I think the CX line is a little less expensive at the retail level so it would naturally be at the lower end for resale. They still have the great quality of Schon and you can't go wrong buying one. Check out...

How to not get mad during a match

No matter what happens (good or bad), don't change your expression. Also, don't vocalize your frustration. Any time you talk about something that's bothering you, you give it strength. Shoot your shot and when you miss, leave the table calmly and quietly and sit down. When the match is over...

Flickr is also a good alternative. You can scan the photos and use Picasa to add exif data to the photos such as descriptions, dates , locations, etc. Both Picasa and Flickr are free but Flickr offers an inexpensive pay plan which gives you more storage and a few other goodies. Check out...

    rankings in leagues

I posted this opinion in a prior thread and got hammered for it. I still believe it to be true.

Top 10 things that annoy me the most

Crappy equipment is at the top of my list. And many of our opponents in league play will pick the worst table in the building, thinking it gives them an advantage. We played a team a couple of weeks ago on a Diamond 7' table. They found the oldest beat up set of balls in the building and used...

Top 10 things that annoy me the most

This used to happen to me a lot when I played APA. I would simply go back to my chair and sit down until they moved. They eventually figured out that I wasn't going to put up with that nonsense.

    Are you happy?

I play in a scratch league on a team with close friends. We enjoy each other's company, our playing ability is pretty close, and we have no drama. It also helps that we tend to win each session. So yes, I'm happy.
