that is to prevent the knife from damaging the ferrule as you trim it....remember to put the grit side against the knife blade. Any kind of thin but strong paper will work.

maybe if you responded this quickly yrs ago to posts and emails and phonecalls from dissatisfied customers, you'd still be in business for pool related items...

I don't like the 7/16x20 threads on the QR inserts....had too many strip out. Now have a source for ones with 7/16x14 threads....much better.....

The ring is part of the joint material insert, so nothing to worry about. Pretty straight forward job for a competent repair person.

I agree with Mike, why try to penetrate from the outside in...? Very tough to do....fill the inside, then let it work it's way to the outside using gravity and viscosity? NO BRAINER....Great post Mike!!

I agree, and have done the same at times. Have shaved it down then saturate with thin CA then shave/face one more time then do the tip install. Now have a glue that does well....sometimes shaky for a break tip, but otherwise a home run.

One other consideration when doing break tips, don't leave the tip full height, I usually cut about a third off then shape it. Reason is the taller the tip is, the more likely it can be leveraged off when breaking, especially on a miscue. Even after removing 1/3, all the hard Break tips will...

no lube is the best answer.....most lubricants attract/trap dirt/dust etc. making a worst problem. Use denatured alcohol on wipes and Q-tips to clean the pin and insert on a regular basis to prevent a lot of issues down the road.

I use DAP rapid fuse....just make sure...1) both surfaces are flat, if you place tip on ferrule in dry run, there should be NO wobble, second, do not apply too much glue, and make sure you have very good pressure on it, not enough to push out all the glue, but not to leave a huge glue line, a...

it is almost Impossible to cross thread and have it seat properly on the joint face.

would NOT recommend it..... do a search on AZ and even google....choose wisely.
