The Oklahoma Roots of One Pocket - eBook Available for Purchase on Amazon

Just skimmed the book. Interesting you mention there was more 3C tables than Pool tables before WWll. Harry Sims told me the same thing but till now I've never heard anyone mention it. BTW I played (by myself) 3C on the table shown on your book cover. Maybe 30 years ago. Wonder if it...

You sure can learn a lot watching others play

Yes, shot selection can be learned from video. That's really important. Sure wish I could see the whole thing. When the taping isn't a Hollywood Production and only has one camera you occasionally get the whole thing.

Wood Shaft Pin - Graphite Shaft Adapter

That's my vision but the wood pin is something like 1/2 - 10-1/2. Just slightly different than Longoni and all the other wood pins. I'm kinda worried about weight increase... Maybe G10? Anyone interested?

Wood Shaft Pin - Graphite Shaft Adapter

I have Dieckman 3-Cushion Cues with Wood Pins in the shaft. Is it feasible to make an adapter to accept a graphite shaft. I'm sure the machining is possible but is it a bad idea?

You sure can learn a lot watching others play

Best way to learn by watching is to watch in person. Watching over the internet doesn't give you the entire story. You'll almost never see the stroke that made that shot happen. You'll see the tip hit the ball or the ball fall in the hole. Nearly never how it was accomplished. The...

Pool is becoming a rich man's sport

Pretty ridiculous attitude. The top players are sponsored - meaning they get financial help to some degree. The end of the Road Player came with the advent of Cell Phones and Internet. There's little chance for a top player to travel incognito from town to town like in the 70's and earlier...

    Books by Walter Lindrum

This one I purchase around 1974 or 5. Read it several times back then along with Hoppe and of course Byrne.

STROKE TIMING … A Complete MythBusting Study of Stroke Acceleration Effects

Maybe already mentioned in this thread but... What I've experienced is when in dead stroke there's the "sensation/feel" of a longer dwell time on the CB. My opinion is that feeling comes from near or perfect timing. It's a wonderful feeling. It can happen without flow/"In the Zone" which is...

    Tips for 3c

I accidentally put on a Kamui Brown H. I'm generally lazy so didn't pop it off right away. Ended up liking it. When it wore out I bought another one but it ended up softer. Sure it would have hardened but it all went to my head and started trying other brands till I got what I was looking...

    Cue repair

Can't see the dings in the shaft but unless extremely severe, you can do those yourself. Lightly sand as close to the ding with like 220 grit. You just want to open up the grain in that spot. Then spit on your finger and apply to that spot. Go do something for few minutes. Check email or...

The Great Francis L.Roberts aka St Louie Louie the memories stories . Positive memories

I could barley recognize him with the video quality. Wonder what the game and bet was? We all know he never stepped to a table just to knock em around. Didn't know him well at all but was told he had a home table he would do his practice. I really can't remember seeing him play. Probably did...

    Pin spacing for 2.25 balls.

So spacing for when using 2-1/4" (57.15mm) balls would be simply the % reduction from 61.5mm? Would the pins need to be smaller diameter @ the 10mm dimension noted above? Maybe by the same % diff calculated for spacing?

Playing fast is so popular to viewers. Is it still possible to play consistent, fast high level pool?

IMO Rhythm, Personal Rhythm, is one of the keys to playing well. I don't know how really slow players find their rhythm. There isn't anything repeatable. There's no beat. 1 2 3 4 .... I was told years ago not to watch my opponent. They'll draw you into their rhythm and you'll lose yours.

    Schrager joint

Wondered if in those day whether he or even Harvey made their own pins? Have to believe they did. Maybe some exceptions like yours.

    Schrager joint

I'm not a cue builder but decent to close friends with 4 top builders and 1 most would consider average over the years. The average builder was Harry Sims who won 1 of his National Championships with the cue he built for himself. The closest friend behind Harry was Dennis Dieckman. He...
