A very cool tip on shafts

The all-in-one has a lower content of the condition but added is a solvent to break down oils and greases. It is not meant for heavy duty cleaning. The solvent completely evaporates leaving only the conditioner behind. (It is also non-flammable and is environmentally safe, non-toxic and...

    Skid

Paul normally comes in on Sundays and is one of the first to play. The tables are well cleaned and balls are cleaned and polished before he begins play. This is a very nice room with GC tables and S860 cloth. Maybe in this case it might be something else, just don't know for sure.

    Skid

I play in the same room as Paul and the balls do skid more often than you would expect. We use Aramith Pro balls. FYI, the room is in the basement which is humid at times . Also, when I use the oldfer centennial balls I get near zero skid, figure this one out (ob is smaller in this set due to...

A very cool tip on shafts

Right, most have a very thin coat these days. Keeps the shaft clean while potential buyers handles it. Try the Mr clean pad first though. It raises the broken fibers that are "hair" like. Then sanding will remove them much easier.

A very cool tip on shafts

Right, Tim does not treat the shaft with a clear coat. Most top cue makers do not, so no need to remove it. On his cue he uses a wax and then applies SlipStic on it. Can you post a picture of your cue. I'ld like to see it, he makes some great cues.

A very cool tip on shafts

Many tour player do, I think it has to do with making sure nothing affects your stroke. Or just a habit.

A very cool tip on shafts

The covering on the shaft is for protection during shipping, like a cell phone has a thin film you need to pull off the screen. Without this film on the stick, everyone who handles it will add dirt to it. It is has no other purpose, many high end quality cue makers do not add this film at all...

A very cool tip on shafts

Thanks> One of the biggest problems we have is that some players have gone for well over a year (1.5 longest yet) and it still is effective. Hard to sell volumes if it lasts so long. FYI, I now use a microfiber towel to wipe the shaft and it works really well. The trick is that the chalk and...

Ball Cleaner - Fact Or Fiction

I think it might be near zero because the balls generally roll rather than skid down the track. Never thought of it though.

A very cool tip on shafts

One thing that drives me nuts is on a new cue shaft and its shiny coat. You have to get this crap off as nothing has a better feel than bare wood, at least to me. Here is the best method; Yep, Mr. Clean Magic eraser. Damp it and then go for it. What a great job, plus, it is not abrasive on the...

Ball Cleaner - Fact Or Fiction

I have to disagree a bit. I say they will still wear but not as quickly. There are machines that use water with sand particles to cut through steel. Even though the water is shot at a terrific speed in these machines, it still shows that even water is an abrasive. Add in the cleaners in a ball...

Ball Cleaner - Fact Or Fiction

I would have to say fact. We have a sets of Brunswick Cent. that are tiny because they have worn so much from play. Imagine balls wearing down by rolling on felt, now imagine getting brushed faster and more abrasively with a machine.

State of the Billiards Industry - A Discussion

A thought Most sports are funded ultimately by the casual player through products they buy. The billiards industry in the US is a small niche and therefore unlikely to be able to promote itself correctly unless it is willing to change.. In my opinion, and please consider this only as a...

    Schon Cue Lovers

No need to replace the shaft on a schon, unless you are a beginner and need to get easy cb action without a good stroke. The schon shaft is probably one of the best you can buy. Perfect control and ideal flex. This is the kind of shaft that the greats played with. Why replace?

Impt. about Mr Clean Magic Eraser

I was recently asked about what is best method to clean the butt of a cue stick. Please note that as much as I like MR Clean Magic Eraser, it may cause damage the butt. Let me explain. First of all cleaners are regulated into one of two categories; they are either chemically based that break...

Why is almost everyone all upset @ KT & The IPT

Thanks for your nice post. My error when I stated "owned by players". The intent was Not for Profit and managed by those that love the game. Own was misleading, sorry. Just some thoughts: The billiards economy has been around longer than football and baseball though has not prospered. Time is...

Why is almost everyone all upset @ KT & The IPT

I have been following quite a bit of this and have kept my nose out of it however my feelings go to the players first. Years ago when I use to play Babe Cranfield (one of the best straight pool players around at the time) he and I use to talk about the future of this game quite a bit. Here is a...

How do you remove a ding WITHOUT removing shaft wood

I agree with you. It spreads it and you also risk the chance of splitting the bent fibers. Lots of other good advice, warm water, steam (do not leave long, short intervals and dry quickly before putting back) and iron steam. .

Feature IPT Article Coming in Details Magazine

Hey JD, where do you play pool? A nice story might be about league play - APA, BCA, ... This would certainly help promote billiards. I think billiards needs a good story about league fun, team play, balance of men and women. A well written article would help all of billiards.
