The "problem" with pool is that you have to dedicate a LOT of time to getting better. I'm guessing a lot of people on this forum started when they were kids and so had plenty of free time to devote to pool. A lot of APA players come to the game as adults and have full time jobs, kids, other...

I don't consider it luck when you call a shot and make it. Even if it's a low percentage shot, you saw the possibility and shot with the intention of making it. Luck is when you shrug and shoot without trying to accomplish anything in particular but still make a ball.

Why should APA players get serious about the game? They're having a fun night out with friends; what more do they need? And I'm not being sarcastic here. I can't see any reason why other people need to (or should) take pool as seriously as you or I do.

I frequently play league matches and local tournaments in bars without air conditioning. In the middle of summer, when it gets mighty humid, my hands get too sticky to keep running to the men's room to wash them. At those times, I wear a glove. All other times, I don't wear one.

There's nothing wrong with taking a break if you get in a funk. I hate to follow your funk with... what's the opposite of a funk? Oh yeah... ass-kicking (:)) but I won my Lagger's Choice team match last night. Between my singles and team divisions I'm 7-1.

NAPA singles league. I won a 4-4 9-ball race 4-2. Neither of us played very well but I played less bad. This puts me in first place with 4 matches to go.
