    HIWIN profile linear rail FS

I have one HIWIN brand 750 mm length EGR15 profile linear rail with two blocks for sale. Brand new never used. Would be great for a sliding fixture. The rail is 15mm wide. The block height from bottom of rail is 24 mm. This series is considered low profile. I bought from the listing linked...

    Sanding Mandrel use

If you paid a high price for a quality set of carbide mandrels, in my opinion you did yourself a favor just starting out. The $350-$400 for a quality set is expensive, but when you consider they will outlast you and will be used for every single cue you ever build (with that pin type of course)...

    Sanding Mandrel use

How can you sand the cue down without the pin installed? 1. Final turn. 2. Install pin. 3. Sand flush to prefinish size mandrel. (if you are getting two sets) 4. Apply finish. 5. Sand and polish flush to post finish size mandrel. There are some little nuances and details to carbide...

    Cheap CNC/rotary tailstocks

That looks great and is cheap if the parts are decent quality. That might have been a good option for me in the beginning even with the prospect of ditching the stepper. But since I already have a Parker Daedal positioning table and a Bison chuck...and made a chuck plate...and bought a linear...

    CNC's for cuemakers

A cuecut user recently purchased one of these machines: http://www.rockler.com/axiom-autoroute-8-pro-cnc-with-stand-and-toolbox He has not reported back on the accuracy, so I don't know what his results are yet. I'd be interested in hearing opinions on what people see on that page. I spoke...

    Cheap CNC/rotary tailstocks

Thanks for all of the replies fellows. I also thought the units with the MT might serve me better, but I'm wanting to keep the center height as low as feasible due to my design. Those units have a taller center line height as well as the one rhino vouched for. The tailstock will be riding...

    Cheap CNC/rotary tailstocks

Can anyone vouch for whether these cheap units are useless junk or usable junk? The center height is what the doctor ordered for me but options are a bit limited. Thanks...

    Coring Dust Collection

Thanks. Using the steady and securing the vac fitting between steady and chuck sounds like a good idea. Thanks for taking the time on the video and explanation.

    Coring Dust Collection

You called it a bushing. They sell a "snap guide", a "drill guide", and a bushing. Their bushing does not look like what you have. I was just trying to make sure which of the 3 parts you were using before I ordered some.

That looks great. That part is a "drill guide", not a "snap guide"?

    Looking at this lathe

Jet has had both belt drive and gear drive for a long time. The belt drives are a bit of a slow poke. One of the pics shows the top (stock) speed to be 1240. The top speed on the gear drives is usually 2000. The VFD was probably added to kick up the RPM's. Yes regarding what the oil sights...

    cue building lathe

Hey Kim. I ground the chuck jaws on my Jet 3 jaw to my collet OD diameter (building collets, not shaft tip collets). My typical runout at that diameter is a half to about .0015. Typical for other diameters is .001 to .002. If you have a horizontal router mount (slicing up rings orientation)...

MVP Ebony into Curly Maple (John Davis) Windows & Barbells, Abalone Shell & MOP This cue is made from a John Davis full spliced ebony into curly maple blank. Shaun wanted some old school elements in the cue; barbells and windows, mother of pearl, and a smooth leather wrap. The abalone shell...
