    Imperial Augustine Pool Table

Imperial tables play ok. They're not gonna play like a Diamond or GC but they are an ok playing table. The way a table plays is alot about who sets it up. Get a good mechanic to set it up and I'm sure you will be happy. I sell new Imperial tables occasionally and my customers have been happy.

    What is you favorite wood?

Meridianblades please tell me what the wood in the second pic is? That is crazy looking. Looks like what I would imagine the surface of Mars to look like. I bet a cue would look ridiculous with that wood in it.

    Black marks

It's the pockets. They are scuffs from when a ball moving at a good pace enters the pockets, usually hit to one side of the pocket so the side of the ball contacts the top lip of the pocket, thus leaving a black scuff mark. Kinda like what black sole shoes do to floors.

    McDermott Cue prices

I play with a "Lucky" cue it is an import cue made by McDermott, and I honestly really like it. I payed $50 shipped for the model I got and I have no complaints. The fit and finish is actually pretty nice. It has a 3/8x10 pin and the wood to wood joint feels solid. I had a Viking when I was...

Joe Porper Custom Cue w/ broken shafts

I'll try to get pics this weekend. I'm not sure of the pin but I know it's something standard because a shaft she has for another cue fits it. Thanks for the recommendation too. Look for the pics in a few days, if you have info on the cue that would be awesome. Thanks.

    Do you follow the Herd?

Do I get anything for climbing out the window? Now that's thinking outside the box!

Joe Porper Custom Cue w/ broken shafts

Yeah maybe not, my mom could be mistaken on the value. $100-200 is not bad at all, I don't know why I was thinking at least double that to have them reuse the ring work. If you have any cuemakers you can recommend that would be great. That's exactly what I'm gonna do, I wanted to keep the cue...

Joe Porper Custom Cue w/ broken shafts

Hi I am trying to find out what I should do with a Joe Porper custom cue that was made for my dad about 10 years ago. The cue was valued at that time in the $6-10,000 range. The cue is loaded, it is an ebony cue with ivory inlays, butt, etc and tiger stone(I think is what it's called) inlayed...

    moving a barbox...

Barbox's use 1 piece slate and the felt is glued to it. The slate just lifts out once the rails are removed so no you don't have to replace the felt. You shouldn't have to do anything to the felt at time of move.

Brutal! Six balls on the break and still loses!

Yeah he just got careless on the 6. I made 5 balls in league once and was hooked on the 3 so I had to push. How do I get hooked with 4 balls on the table? Pool is funny like that sometimes.

    buying a used table question

To check the rails you should try to compress them with your hand and if they feel hard then they are bad. Feel the entire rail to make sure it feels the same the length of the rail. The hopping could be caused by a few things so the only way to check that is assembled. If the rails still feel...

    Not my baby!

So I pick up my cue and realize it is heavier than usual. I suspect someone has changed my weight bolt trying to be funny so I take the butt cap off and remove the weight bolt. As I get the weight bolt out my cue comes apart at both ends of the wrap and my wrap unravels. Did I mention I'm about...

    Round Cue Chalk

The falling off the table and rolling away is probably what led to it's downfall. It looks cool though. I'd use it for sure.

    Strange bets and spots

Lol no I hadn't seen that before. That's a great story. I've actually seen my dad shoot a game of 9 ball with one hand and a broom stick. And he did not miss one shot. We owned pool halls and he was telling a regular some story probably the one I told and he must not have believed it cuz next...

    Strange bets and spots

My dad used to play with a broom stick or the butt of a cue. I remember a story he told me, he was playing a guy and was killing the guy and he wanted to quit. My dad tells him he will play him with a broom stick and whatever the spot already was so the guy agrees. My dad beats him a few more...

    Why don't sporting goods stores?

I would have thought more stores would want to carry stuff like that but what ridinda9 says makes alot of sense. The average person is gonna buy a cue based on looks and those $10 sportscraft cues look just as good as the Vipers, Cuetech, etc. Maybe one day pool will be mainstream enough to be...
