Over 500 games, he's had the results to back it up 🤷🏻‍♂️

Never seen this before - asking the for a ref for video review

I was watching some recent Heyball tournament videos and just came across a player asking for a video review, which I've never seen before. (Start at 2:20 if the video doesn't already take you there) I'm amazed that he did it right as his opponent got on the 8 and his opponent didn't bat an...

    (Un)Popular Opinion on Fargo Rate

Agreed, I feel like the algorithm is way too sticky. I wish they would adjust it so that the weight given to past games dropped off faster. AFAIK, games after 3 years count half as much as a game played today, which seems too high. I feel like they should count closer to like 25% or something.

Matchroom/U.S. Open is leaving Atlantic City

I was under the impression that most of the refs used for the events are local, other than a few special exceptions like Marcel.

    US Open 08/18-23

IIRC Niels has mentioned in his videos that he doesn't practice nearly as much as he used to. It sounds like he's more a case of practicing smart with short but intense practice sessions.

    Heyball and Orcollo

Pretty funny given all the wax gate business. His opponent seemed like a grouch though and I thought it was out of line to accuse Orcollo so aggressively. I speak Chinese and his tone was quite forceful when complaining to the ref and talking about how he's 100% certain the ball had been...

    Corey Deuel still good? Fargorate

Yes, but it's still extremely sticky. Games three years ago still count for 50% the weight of new games. In the hypothetical example that he's actually playing like a 740, I'd bet it'd still take a couple years for his rating to drop under 750.

Since you keep posting this, why not include a video of the breaks?

    any really tall pro players?

Skewed by the fact that pool is a global sport and 90% of men in the world are under 6 feet tall. Even in the USA, that number is still around 85%.

    any really tall pro players?

If you have a 6'3 wingspan and your back hand is three inches from the end of a 57" cue then you must A) have an extremely short bridge B) have the arm placement of Oliver Ortmann C) the stance of Minnesota Fats or D) all the above

    any really tall pro players?

Tall, but not unusually so. I've stood next to him and I'd guess 6'3". Isn't Donny Mills quite tall?

    SVB Shorter Cue

Coincidentally, Samm Diep uploaded this video this week explaining exactly what I mean:

    Cue length

There are also plenty of pros that play with a shorter than standard cue. You just can't tell because unlike with an extension there's no visual indicator that it's shorter. I played Mika Immonen yesterday and noticed his cue was ~2 inches shorter than standard with a short wrap as well.

World Games, Chengdu China, Aug. 7-17, 2025

Plenty of sports don't have the Olympics as the pinnacle of their sport. I think that's actually the sign that a sport is healthy and financially viable. It also makes sense to me that there would be a limited set of participants in the Olympics. This should be a showcase of the best each...

    SVB Shorter Cue

Much worse for shorter players. The cue length should be relative to your height. A longer cue won't help much with reaching shots because the extra length goes to the back of the cue, not the front, because you can't magically start playing with a 24" bridge. All it does is cause the cue to be...

    Break Stats -- 2025 Florida Open (9-Ball), August 2025

32% seems higher than normal for Match room events on 4" pockets right? Anecdotally, I feel like I heard about longer packages than usual during this tournament and the tables looked more generous based on the eye test. If that's true, I wonder what was different this time around.

    Mike Delawder kick

Looks like he's using reference lines that all point to the corner pocket, which is how I'd kick at this. The reference lines are as follows in short rail to long rail format: second diamond to second diamond (lots of running), third diamond to third diamond (natural running), pocket to 3.5...

Should I have seen this coming? Would you have?

The short rail -> center pocket scratches are always a tough pill to swallow because they seem so unlikely, especially on tighter tables. Unless I'm on a table with 5.5"+ side pockets, I'd probably just focus on making the bank and accept that scratch as a risk.

Kaci calls out the top Pinoys. All of them.

Something tells me Kaci isn't going to get the same "nice and hospitable" treatment everyone else gets.
