Fair? No way to sell a cue!

I completely disagree with the suggestion that a seller or a seller's friends should not be able to buy raffle tickets. Plain and simple fact: The EV of each ticket buyer does not change. The EV of the seller does not change. Whether or not this EV is positive is wholly based on the opinion of...

Fair? No way to sell a cue!

Sorry, no offense intended in this post, but are you being serious here or sarcastic? (I honestly can't tell over the internet) In the case you are being serious, that pretty much kills the idea of a raffle or the idea of selling/business in general. And I'm pretty sure laws on this vary by...

Fair? No way to sell a cue!

The flaw in this situation is that you neglect the possibility of him losing the cue. You assume that its a "freeroll" for money, but the flip side of that is that he loses the cue and doesn't get its entire value back in return. This is because the cue is technically worth $100, if 10 people...

Fair? No way to sell a cue!

Then the raffler made $220 and has a 47.6% chance of losing a cue worth $420. So it does indeed sound like a good "business practice" to me :D

Fair? No way to sell a cue!

Actually it takes forever to get approved :frown: But I guess thats what keeps this forum legit.

    Magic Bullets and Dead Horses

I really don't see why we are mentioning great players of the past, Mosconi and Hoppe used regular shafts because thats all they had! Unless Predator had 314s produced in the 50s, you really can't use them as comparisons. Who knows, maybe with a LD shaft these players would have been even...

Fair? No way to sell a cue!

But see, the fallacy in that argument is that the seller is "selling" the cue at 25% above market value and expect people to buy it. If people do buy it at that price, then he/she is losing an equal amount of value for the chance to win the cue rather than selling off those extra spaces...

    Magic Bullets and Dead Horses

Ok, goddammit I'm gonna try one more time before I go to sleep! 2 guys, clones of each other, exact same childhood, everything EXACTLY the same. They have never played pool before in their lives. Both get a entry level McDermott, except while one gets the standard McDermott shaft and one gets a...

Very basic question from a newb

Hey guys, this is my first time posting in this forum because I'm not a 3c player (makes sense eh?) But I just had one question on my mind that was bothering me: what is the difference between a regular pool cue and a carom cue?

    Magic Bullets and Dead Horses

Lets give take Tony Robles (he uses a 314, am I correct?) and put him against an APA6 with a 10 year old Joss and give him 2 days with Hal. OH MY GOD, Tony Robles won? How unexpected! I think that sufficiently addresses why your previous post doesn't really contribute much. A better situation...

Why would one choose a 314 over a Z? or vice versa....

How does it play? Like, can you actually do everything (esp. draw the ball) that you should be able to do with a normal snooker cue?

    Magic Bullets and Dead Horses

But here you are just pulling generalizations and false logic out of your ass. Sure the majority of the greatest pool players in history have used standard shafts, but thats because LD shafts haven't been around very long. You have nothing to compare that group to and nothing to back up your...

    Magic Bullets and Dead Horses

I think you are missing the point of most of these products and system though. Most of them don't make a claim of "instant improvement" because most consumers are just not that dumb. However, many of them do make viable statements such as "_____ will help you become a better player." I'm a big...

Viking f-13 & Predator sneaky for sale.

FYI the joint thread is Viking's own quick release system. I think all Vikings have them. Also, the tip is most likely LePro, since they come standard (I think)

Fair? No way to sell a cue!

IMO this thread is incredibly unnecessary. As stated by several people, IT DOESN'T MATTER if the seller buys tickets or not, his expected value DOES NOT CHANGE. So what if I take my used Fury DL and post it up on the market for $1000 and someone buys it? Oh no, I screwed somebody out of $930...

This how the 3Cushion World Break in New Felt??

Damn, I need to get myself one of these tables. Are the "accessories" included?

Fair? No way to sell a cue!

It is obvious? I don't see it. Fatboy and I have both posted an analysis on why this is not an issue so I look forward to a response that has more justification than just labeling it as "obvious".

Fair? No way to sell a cue!

And what is wrong with that? I really don't see this as an issue at all because it changes NOTHING. Suppose I have 10 slots for sale, each $10 in price. So my cue is worth $100 in a normal raffle. But suppose I buy 5 slots myself...then I'm only getting $50 for the cue, but I only have a 50%...
