Shaft/Tip Diameter Help - Good/Bad Reasons to go smaller

^ Generally yes. Snooker players seem to orefer a slightly larger tip than their ferrule but pool cues always have the same diameter ferrule and tip fit flush with it.

Chalk test, pictures and thoughts on different chalks.

I am familiar with Dr. Daves test :) I agree with his conclusions, it doesn't matter what you use as long as you chalk before every shot. These tests of mine are purposefully made to show and describe the physical attributes of different chalks, how they feel when applying and how they cover...

    Tomahawk ferrule reviews

Here is my first thoughts on a review I wrote in the other thread; And as for today I stand by those words. The material is one of the best materials out there for a ferrule in my opinion. It stays clean and pretty for a long time and the hits just feels so right for my taste. I actually...

Chalk test, pictures and thoughts on different chalks.

Added another piece to the test, Navigator chalk from Japan. Seems to be good stuff, description can be found in the original post :embarrassed2: Will update the Mezz chalk when that comes in

Shaft/Tip Diameter Help - Good/Bad Reasons to go smaller

I prefer ~12.4-12.6mm myself but shaft diameter is more a preference thing than anything else. I just like that diameter because it looks and feels right for me. The thins shafts are hard for me to play with as they feel so slim and their taper is usually the euro taper type wich I hate to...

Gloves - Strictly Personal Preference or Check Materials etc....

Just a matter of what fits your hand well. I like Kamui and Molinari gloves the best, they breathe enough to not get sweaty and they fit on my hand nice and snugg. At first I went through the cheap ones like bread. Later on I got bored of changing them every other week and invested a Kamui...

Players HXT Cues - Choices and Decisions Between Models

I have had the pleasure to own two HXT cues, HXT15 wich I sold a while back and a HXTE10 that I still have to date. They are both decent cues but I like the more expensive 10 better. The finish is better and the wood joint has a better hit than the Stainless on the 15. The more expensive models...

Need Guidance for First Cue + Tip Purchase

^ Well said  I totally forgot about Schmelke cues. They are well priced and also customisable to some extent. If you know what you want you may want to call them and have a cue made to your wishes. That way you can talk to someone about what you are looking for in a cue and can discuss...

Need Guidance for First Cue + Tip Purchase

For your budget you are pretty much going to have a standard length 58" cue. Nothing wrong with that, if you ever want to make it longer there are mid extensions available for most joint types. If you want to get the most out for reasonable money I'd recommend using a little more money on the...

In the market for a new break tip?

^ I really like the idea of testing velocity/compression rates and comparing the tips by those results  Would make a good read for sure. Maybe Chris sees this and tackles it on? I do agree on the Taom wearing down like butter if you break in to the cloth like Sigel does. I changed my...

In the market for a new break tip?

Funny how each player has their own preference for break tips like they have in cues. I for one didn't like the Hammerhead tip that much at all as I wrote in my review. I just dont feel comfortable breaking with one  Darren praised them a while back though so there must be something...

    "Buy It Once" by Manning

Tip scuffer like Kamui Gator Grip should definitely be amongst the Buy it once list. It lasts for an eternity if used correctly and is by far the best type of scuffer I have used :) I really like the idea behind this as I am a quality first type of guy :o

The BeCue System - Carbon Composite Cue - Interview with the Cue Makers

Congrats to BeCues for reaching their 20k  May we get to see some photos from the factory some time? I'd be interested to see what it takes to manufacture a high tech cue like this :o

    LBM vs Juma ferrules?

I dont care much for LBM, it is heavy, hard to keep clean unkess sealed and too hard in my opinion. Juma gives a good hit that is slightly on the soft side. Tomahawk is a little lighter than juma and has a more distinctive, firmer hit. I'd go from there if I were you, Juma for a softer hit and...

Chalk test, pictures and thoughts on different chalks.

The only chalk that is noticeably cleaner to use is the Triangle pro chalk. The second best is harder to say as the difference isnt huge between them but Magic chalk and master are the only ones that have stuck with me

The BeCue System - Carbon Composite Cue - Interview with the Cue Makers

What will be the estimated price tag for Becues and when do you think you could get production up and running for these cues? I'm genuinely interested in the concept and I wish you and your business all the best for the future :) I'd fund you if I could for sure :)

    GLOVES at the Mosconi Cup

Molinari gloves were pretty well represented this year  All I know is that I'd be wearing one under that pressure, one less thing to worry about if your bridge hand sweats :)

Chalk test, pictures and thoughts on different chalks.

I agree. The fact is that there isnt much room for improvement in chalk as it has been good enough for several decades already. Nothing wrong with the most basic chalks in my opinion and I'm sure any pro could play just as well with a piece of triangle or master. The benefit of having a "nicer"...
