    >*>*> For Sale: *Rare* 1970's Joss Bumperless Hoppe <*<*<

Hey guys. I have a pristine condition early 1970's Joss with an exposed weight bolt and ivory hoppe ring. The cue is in pristine condition. From what I was told by Bill at Cornerstone Cues, the finish is original but the cue was re-wrapped in Cortland by Pete Tascarella. This cue really was...

    Cue customizing

I would personally leave it as is, or have a bumperless sneaky made with the same pin so your pred shaft will mate up to it. There's a ton of cuemakers on here that will make it for probably the around the same cost, or even less, as having to re-work your cue. It's pretty much converting a...

    Cortland Greenspot Dacron

It depends on how many yards of it you have. Approximately 50 Yards is usually adequate for a standard handle with linen, however Dacron is slightly thinner so it might require slightly more (?). The 50lb test just means how much weight the thread was designed to handle on a fishing reel. It is...

    1970 JOSSWEST, RARE 3/8x10 MICARTA JOINT: FOR-SALE!!

Fair enough sir. Like I said, if someone offers a grand on ebay (which is a respectable amount considering the BIN price)...you're still only going to come out with $900..). An offer of $870 outright on here seems pretty good, to me anyway. Anyways, glws on a great looking cue

    1970 JOSSWEST, RARE 3/8x10 MICARTA JOINT: FOR-SALE!!

Man that is a beautiful cue.. However if you already have 2 offers over a grand...why do you have it listed on ebay for $1100 obo? You're going to burn for over a hundred even if someone goes for the BIN price... That being said you've got $750 from me. Cheers, Brett

    WTB: Good Elkmaster tips

Unfortunately that's how they are now, like many non-layered tips, they're inconsistent. Luckily Elks are super cheap, so you can buy a box of them and pick out the ones you like. I think that's probably your best bet.

Anyone tried a "wooden" tip for breaking?

True, but it's also a self lubricating wood, not something I would want in a tip. If you want something that hard to break with, I would stick with phenolic.

Thanks :). I think the price is more than fair and the the feel of Cuttyhunk is awesome. Very similar to Cortland. Still a few more available

    Is a second shaft necessary?

Personally I think two shafts is always a good choice. The general reason most people give is "what if you're in the middle of a big $$ game or tourney and the tip pops off...". But how often does that happen, really?. My main rationale is if one shaft gets a ding or needs some sort of...

    Cortland Greenspot Dacron

Yes, Ray Martin preferred it on his cues. There a member on here who actually did/does wraps for him. I have a 200 yard spool of Greenspot Dacron. It looks like Cortland #9 but has a very different feel. Bushka used it more than a few times on alot of his older cues. Many players liked it...

Les Blevins 1996 extremely rare cue FS

Escrow...... To the original poster....your best bet would be to use one of the below escrow services. You don't have an established iTrader record here yet, and there's no pics of the actual cue, so don't be offended if some of the members here seem skeptical. Unfortunately there's been way...

Will Somebody Please Put A Cue In His Hands???

True, but I don't know if I agree with the fact that a player is only a "playing" prodigy in regards to pool. Guys like Ronnie Allen, or even Efren to a degree, changed the way we look and play certain games or shots. Heck, Ronnie changed the way one-pocket is played almost entirely, and I...

Identify this cue before i sell it

The cue has been confirmed by Bill Stroud through a couple emails with detailed pics I sent him. It's one of his early works. He said it was built between 1968 - 1970. He built it, and Dan Janes did the finish. It's a very early Joss :)
