I like the box you built to hold the lathe. I have an old Cue-smith lathe that's basically just for repairs and i'd love to have mine in a box like you've done with your lathe. That was a good idea and it turned out great.

I wish I could make it to Reno to see this tournament since I love to play one pocket. I have a question about the tournament, do the players have a shot clock? I've never seen a one pocket tournament so i'm curious as to how it's set up.

I accumulated quite a few trophies over the years and all they did was collect dust. I never thought about trying to sell them like you are doing and I wish you good luck with them. I'm sure someone collects them.

Rip I never met Paul in person, but we talked on the phone a couple of times and it was like I was talking to an old friend. Paul bought a real nice TS cue from me and he was one of the nicest people I've ever dealt with. I'm sad to hear he's no longer with us.....

All the matches are even races AA against AA, A against A, etc. I know before I get there that I'm going to play a top player a race to 9 games even race no spot.

3 man teams AA, A, & B make up each team 3 matches are played each week (each player plays one match) Each match is a race to 9 games with no spot, flip a coin for the break and the first player to reach 9 games ends the match. The winner gets 10 points and the loser gets a point for each game...

You're right about the APA handicap system spotting and adjusting someone's handicap up or down when they lose like i'm describing. Since our league is a local league run by two local players (they are great guys by the way and friends of mine) they determine a players speed from what they know...

You're right Johnny and i've been through slumps before, but this slump is lasting longer than I remember some of the other dark days of my pool career. Thanks for the input.

The matches are a straight race to nine games with no spot. We flip a coin for the first break and see what happens. I like yours and PaulieB's posts and you have some great thoughts.

I played a couple of games of one pocket on a 10' Gold Crown and it's not for me. The table is just too big and you'd have to have quite a room in your home to hold one of these tables. I didn't enjoy playing on it at all.
