    Twine Specific for Cue Wrap

Nylon as it relates to pool cue wraps was more of an economics decision than it was a decision to introduce a novelty to the cue manufacturing process. Nylon as a man made substance contributed hugely to our success in winning WWII - the Japanese had cut off silk supplies - parachutes, ropes...

    Twine Specific for Cue Wrap

Here is what I remember concerning fishing line for cues. Cortland line was never used on a large mass scale for cues by production cue makers. Cortland was more utilized by a smaller group of custom cue makers and was never manufactured by the Cortland line company with the thought of being...

Blue Book of cues 2nd and 3rd editions worth?

Well in very good condition I think that the second edition about $75 and the third edition about $125 - that is just my opinion based on actual quick sales that I have seen - this would not include your mailing cost or selling fees. You can ask whatever you want - but I believe that they would...

time for stu SJM to get some kind of award

I feel that we need to look at Stu not for what he “does” - he is not a player or a billiard sponsor- to me, Stu represents what this game has needed for all the years that it never could shake a bad “image” problem. Stu , through his support, his frequent presence and his very intelligent...

time for stu SJM to get some kind of award

I appreciate all of Stu’s insights into the game at many levels. I also appreciate that he stays away from all the petty B.S. on this site from those that think they know more than all the others here. The site itself should recognize one person each year for outstanding positive...

Traveling within the USA with a cue that has ivory

Most cues with ivory have a value beyond which I am personally willing to risk in a checked bag - I doubt an insured cue would be covered by an insurance company if confiscated for being illegal. Just get a plain Jane travel cue!

    eBay Mystery Cue

I doubt that this cue has significant value beyond what was paid on e bay.

    First Problem With Pirate Shipping

Well this just tells you how inefficient our USPS can be — I know that every time I bring a pre labeled package to my Fed Ex location - they check it against my declarations. I stopped USPS for cues many years ago and happy that I did just that! I want a system that works for a profit - always...

It's the Indian not the arrow.....and what I learned

Great pool playing is all about being a great cueist - control of the cue ball - any cue that maximizes your ability to do just that is the best cue for you. Shotmaking is necessary - but becomes secondary to cue ball control among the best players.

Your thoughts on outrageous cue prices

We are becoming even more of a world of haves and have nots- and those that have the ability and desire will purchase what they please. Sellers in every aspect are targeting those with the premium dollars to spend. The only thing that brings down prices is when there are not enough well...

    New Andy Gilbert Cue

I had a solid ivory jointed AG and also an AG jump/ break cue. I wish that I never sold my solid ivory jointed AG, it is worth 3 times my sale price, even though I sold it at a profit, and it was a great cue. His shaft taper is called modified European, I believe, similar to Mike Capone's...

    Which DP cue please?

This pic looks like one of Dale's E Bay era cues- but that cannot be certain form one photo- his e bay era cues- starting around 2007 I believe, mostly had a radial brass pin from what I have seen and I also owned one of them. His prior era, "custom" stock used various pins including late 90s...

    Quality of affordable cues...

Reasonably straight cue, smooth shaft, decent, well dressed tip and that should be enough to play very good pool- most of us who have high end cues know this to be true-- and it is true. One buys more expensive cues for many different reasons- just like everything else in life.

    Dent Removal x Jewelry Cleaner?

Lots of good remedies here- my process is to start by cleaning the shaft with 91% rubbing alcohol - this process should always begin with a clean shaft. Next I use the directed teapot steam. I follow up with the thick glass rod or beer mug rub back and forth vigorously over the dented shaft area...

    Just Curious...

Pool and golf- similar stories for most non pros --- the games are much more difficult to master than it would appear to those who have not attempted to do just that! Is it the mind or the body-- it is both!

    Traveling with your cue

I recall that all suitcase locks must be TSA approved and can be opened by the TSA in any manner that they deem appropriate. checked luggage is X rayed - so they all know when they see a cue inside there. Use any of the methods described above and pray- that is about all you can do.

    The ESPN SMH Thread

I share kickin chicken’s frustration - we spent a lifetime with this game from the Hustler movie in the early 60s to now and the game just never really could sustain itself beyond a few brief flashes of general public acceptance. Most rooms that I walk in today - whatever is left now - are a...
