    Humidity & slate

Then I'm not crazy. The problem is slight enough that I'll super glue the seams next recover.

    Humidity & slate

My table has been through a cycle of humidity changes, i.e., dry heated air and humid cooled air at 68 to 72 degrees. I used bondo. The head seam has stayed put but the right side of the foot seam will change enough that a very slow roll along the seam is slightly affected. A push or pull of a...

    Earthquakes!

I'm curious ... Is it safe to assume that earthquakes create a lot of business for table mechanics? Probably some good stories too.

    Brunswick Spotsman or Sport King?

As a DIYer I have worked with the one piece side rails on my late model Medalist. Swinging nearly 8-feet of 2x6 during recushioning and covering is a pain. From a construction stand point, what are the advantages/diadvantages of one piece side rails vs 6 rails?

    Rail cloth too tight

I'm not a mechanic, however this thread is a good reference for installing cloth on rails. I followed the descriptions and my Simonis 860 install was a bit tight at first but stretched slightly over 6 months. It will not help with a fix but at least you'll understand what it takes to install...

T Rail vs Vertical bolt rails

I'm not a table mechanic but try Loctite. Silicon (Teflon) plumbers tape is good for sealing leaks.

T Rail vs Vertical bolt rails

I assume that would that explain the reason for the steel plate behind the wood in English style snooker tables.

Anybody got an accelerometer? OK ... I'll shut-up and shoot.

    Snooker Table Brand opinions

Thank all of you who responded to my question. Based on internet research I have deduced that the only advantage of a steel block rail over wood block is that the rail is narrower. My inexperienced opinion is that steel block rail construction, as seen here...

    Peter Vitalie

I've come across two 9-foot Peter Vitalie - Le Mieux http://www.vitalie-manufacturing.com/vitalie-collection/pages/le-mieux.htm Wood and slates are in excellent shape. They need cloth and maybe cushions. What would you guys pay for resale?

    Sub Rail Bevel

Excellent post and why I check this forum daily. I'm not a mechanic but this is a good observation regarding table quality and attention to detail in design and construction.

Advice from those who are NOT Table Mechanics

Fair enough ... If I am offering an opinion, I will always preface my opinion with "I am not a mechanic". I have the utmost respect and admiration for the genuine professionals who love what they do for a living and are proud to share what they know (DIYers can tell who you are). So, to...

Advice from those who are NOT Table Mechanics

Warning ... Posting by a non-mechanic!!!!! This is BS!!! Most of you know that there are more "INSTALLERS" screwing customers over with bad work than the non-mechanics, like me, that offer an opinion from time to time. This forum educates customers to expect good work. But, since I am a...

    Accelerometers and rails

What started me on this was the premise that Steel Block rails are better than Wood Block rails on Snooker tables. If L77 cushions are used, what difference does it make? The other threads I started before this are here: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=169746...

    Accelerometers and rails

Yes it would but the player doesn't matter in this test. I would set up a simple ramp or pendulum for consistent input to the cushion/rail. A ramp would be influenced by the cloth whereas a pendulum would not. The problem to overcome is how to temporarily mount the accelerometer fast to the rail...
