    Accelerometers and rails

Yes, I get bored when I'm on a long weekend in Florida with a family of three teenage girls and a wife ... no Cub, no pool table ... just a new laptop and a neighbor with no secure WiFi. My mind gets to thinking so here goes: It would be interesting to mount some accelerometers on differents...

    Steel Block Rail

The rails use less of the slate's playing surface for mounting but the blind nuts mounted in the slate doesn't look good to me.

    Steel Block Rail

Now that I have your attention ... I've been learning about snooker tables and found that "Steel Block" rails are espoused by some snooker advocates. I don't think Brunswick has used this in any of their tables over the years. I might be wrong. This looks a lot more complicated than what I'm...

    Snooker Table Brand opinions

I'm looking for opinions on available snooker tables for purchase in the US. Feel free to recommend or vent about particular brands and sizes. I have played mostly on a 10 ft Brunswick Anniversary and once on a 12 ft Brunswick Gold Crown.

    How tight are these pockets?

They are from Finland and may not appreciate the nuances of English that we take for granted. So the question may be subjective, i.e., regardless of measurement, are his pockets "Tight" compared to other tables. So, that being said, a non-mechanics answer is ... hell yeah those are some tight...

    Pocket facing angles

Try this, if you haven't already. Use a piece of 3/8 or 1/4 thick wood long enough for a 4 ball comination and use it as a spacer between the balls and rail. Except slow roll it. That will show you any drift away from and/or into the rail.

    Pocket facing angles

The two remaining Snooker tables (5x10 Anniversaries) I know of in North Alabama are used for golf by the locals. My buddy and I are the only ones that will use them for Snooker. We have to drive to Melrose Billiards in Nashville to play on a 6x12. I did not know that there was a difference in...

I may be asked to restore an Anniversary ...

I am to assume that the rails and skirts are removed/installed in one move? Is it impracticle to install rails and then the skirts or is it just easier the way shown in the pic?

    Pocket facing angles

To appreciate firing down the rail in pocket billiards, try doing it on a snooker table! You will discover words you didn't know you knew.:banghead:

Looking forward to the pics. Sounds like the pinstripping may be the hardest thing to get right.

I may be asked to restore an Anniversary ...

I'm told that the aprons and metal are in good shape and that the wood is undamaged but needs refinishing. Drop pockets, no formica. As long as I don't need some exotic tool I think I'll consider the project.

    Spot Gluing Cushions

From a DIYer .... I recovered a CL Bailey last week where the bottom of one cushion had come undone. I left my 3M10 at home miles away so I went to the nearest auto parts store and bought some 3-M weather strip cement (yellow). It works fine for cushions and adhesive remover will break it down.

    Billiard Clubs

Thanks for the input. A german team member talked of the private Billiard Clubs common in Europe and I was wondering if such a thing existed in the US. Here, there are no billiard or snooker tables available in a city of 239,000 with a relatively high median income. One would probably not work...

what do you guys use to fill slate seams

From one do-it-yourself guy to another ... Your situation would justify wall spakling. Use the plaster variety, not the vinyl stuff, too soft. Probably easier to get too considering your location. The local mechanics use it here and get away with it for awhile. Its great MWR provided tables...
