Antique Tables vs Commercial Restoration Tables

I’m not a mechanic but I’m 100% behind Mark on this. A man with an antique t-rail table wanted it fixed and recovered. I highly recommended Mark over in Atlanta as he had the ability to pay. He didn’t want to spend what it would take to get it right and he got what he paid for.

light fixture bottom to table height?

Huuh yeah, from the floor. Standard height of playing surface is 30½" to 31½" inches but that of course may vary especially with garage floors that are sloped toward the door. My 2¢ ... The higher the light the more even the light across the table. Think of the studio lights used in TV...

light fixture bottom to table height?

I use 78” as recommended by Diamond. With an 8 foot light over an 8 foot table it’s almost perfect with minimum shadow shift head to foot. 4 foot lights over a 7 foot table is OK.

    Differences between Diamond tables

I ordered my Diamonds in December 2014 for delivery March 2015. I originally chose Aramith but had to switch to Cyclop by delivery. So figure that Diamond changed beginning 2015. Personally, the cyclops wear better in a commercial environment. I am disappointed that Diamond made me pay full...

    Table time pricing

I have Diamond Smart tables with Simonis 860HR. Customers can push quarters at $1.00/rack or we'll key it to drop at $6.00/hour flat. People out to have a beer and just hang out like pushing quarters. Gamblers like the hourly rate. I compete with four other halls in town that vary in their...

    Leagues numbers going down

In Huntsville AL we are doing fine. There are approximately 100 APA teams that shoot Monday through Thursday and another 50 or so teams that shoot once-a-month on Saturdays and Sundays. These teams are spread across 5 major venues with 14 to 28 tables each. We send three 8-Ball and three 9-Ball...

    rail bolt broken off

IF you have to drill out the broken bolt it will destroy the barrel nut. I posted a picture in my T-rail thread of my jig. Made from a 2x4 with a predrilled hole for a guide. You can not hand hold a drill straight for 4 inches.

    T-Rails

The clamp and wood is a jig I made up to guide a 12 inch long 7/16 bit. Only had to drill through bondo from a previous repair. The second pic in the post is the top of the slate where the barrel nut was extracted using an easyout. Pull straight on the easyout to preclude breaking it off ... bad...

    rail bolt broken off

    1) I am not a mechanic and I assume you are a DIYer so you're not worried about making profit ... 2) If you are very careful, i.e. patient and slow, drill the whole bolt out using a left handed bit. Make a jig to guide the bit. A 7/16 will give you 1/32 over the existing 3/8 bolt and may even...

    Best Table Spots

I've been through Championship, the spots that come in a tin and Simonis but the best spots I've found are from the APA. Find an APA rep and get all you need. No one really cares that it says APA and they last 3 - 6 months and save your cloth ... which is why you use spots anyway.

    T-Rails

Drilling an old attempt at T-rail repair was not in the books. What isn't shown is extracting the cross-threaded barrel nut using an easy-out. A jig was used to keep the bit parallel to the slate surface. Measure, measure, measure was the rule. The NO was left in an earlier attempt by...
