Who is the Person that has influenced your Pool Life the most?

Last I heard, Ed is living near Orlando, driving a taxi. I haven't been in touch with him in years. I do hope he is doing well. I liked Ed. He has a good heart and was always loyal to his friends. Tom

Who is the Person that has influenced your Pool Life the most?

Great Pix, thanks for posting them. Left to right, Big Ed, I remember the face but drawing a blank on his name(maybe you can help me remember), Bruce Greer, and "The Gump" Steve could shoot like Cole Dixon. Give him a tough shot and Steve could drain it. Walker Roach and Jimmy Scrima. Walker...

Who is the Person that has influenced your Pool Life the most?

As I'm sure you know, I used to play out of Randolph HIlls. This was Steve's home base and though Steve was constantly on the road, it was always a welcome sight to see him playing some friendly match with one of the locals. I just want to relate my most memorable moment regarding Steve. It was...

Rail first off the white 4 or more rails into the red. Long rail, ball, short rail, long rail, long rail, into the corner. Piece O' cake! The red is huge. Tom

I may have overlooked a post but I didn't see the possible bank shot onto the red. Long rail, foot rail, red, long rail, long rail, head rail, white. It can also be made slightly differently but the same idea. Long, short, RED, long, White. This is less likely and needs a fuller hit on the red...

Bob, have you ever played the shot you showed in the first diagram from these positions? It is my sense the the cue ball will fall toward the middle of the foot rail after contacting the fourth rail. I think this would be true even if playing on very old cloth. I would like to hear of someone...

Larry this first one isn't going to work for a couple reasons. First, if you hit the shot with follow the cue ball will run much too long off the third rail. The shot also must be hit no less than half ball, otherwise you send the yellow off the short rails and eventually toward the red. If you...

I may be wrong but I don't think the draw is necessary in this case. if the shot is hit with speed I would say "yes, hit it with draw to pull the cue ball away from the foot rail" Here I don't think a firm hit is needed so a modest push stroke should do fine. Anyway, that's how I would try it...

I would attempt going off the left side of the red ( as we view from the picture) with a high ball and slow to the yellow. No english sends the cue ball long out of the corner. Long, short, long, or long short long short ( bigger ball this way, my preference) The only problem is reaching it for...

Nobody came to baltimore and got the money!

I beat Tom in the finals of the Maryland Open one year maybe it was '89. I don't quite remember the year that well but it was certainly within a year or so one way or the other. This was at Gentleman's cue in Ocean City. I remember very well his being on the hill and and I needing three games...
