Do you mean a real sneaky style cue with no collars on shaft or butt just wood? If so I've had to reface a lot of that style cue for that reason. The wood compresses and the cue doesn't roll straight. A lot of makers won't build that style anymore for that reason.

I've taken cues on trade a few times. Always plan on keeping them until I decide I want another machine.

In the last year I've had 2 espiritus, sugartree, Dishaw and a prewitt. The only one I have left is an espiritu. I would love to collect but I always end up selling the cues so I can buy more cue building supplies or equipment. And I always end up regretting selling the cues later on.

Wood that has been resin impregnated is much heavier. To get the weight back down to something playable you almost always would have to core it. I've used it a couple times and the pieces were both heavier than ebony.
