    Filler withdrawn from Reyes cup

I think the Hanoi Open and the Reyes Cup represent Matchroom’s efforts to establish a presence in an Asian market knowing that the potential audience in countries like Vietnam, Philippines, and Chinese Taipei could really help them grow the product they’re marketing to the benefit of themselves...

    Filler withdrawn from Reyes cup

When we talk “bans” we are usually referring to things like the ACBS suspending all Vietnamese players from July 2024 to Jan 2025 with a $5k fine to be reinstated just because they were born in that country and the city of Hanoi hosted the 2023 Hanoi Open even though those players didn’t...

    Filler withdrawn from Reyes cup

It’s worth reminding that the WNT Pros all announced they were “On Tour” when they signed their player agreements. I never saw a player agreement personally. Some information was made known through social media and perhaps inside info from sources like this...

    Filler withdrawn from Reyes cup

Filler isn’t banned from anything. He’s uninvited. It sounds like he can play all the WNT Open events he wants. It makes sense to me given Team Asia has players like Doang Quoc Hoang who is actively banned by the ACBS from playing in WPA events just because he was born in Vietnam. Team...

    Filler withdrawn from Reyes cup

Reyes Cup is an event in Asia. He posted a statement saying he would stand in solidarity boycotting WPA events due to the unfair bans being done by the ACBS on Asian players. Then he went back on his boycott for multiple WPA events. Then he posted it wouldn’t matter because he’d play Hanoi...

    Politics in a billiards forum?

Thanks for the tip. Although I’ll still say it’s annoying to need to log out before searching if you don’t want a bunch political drivel noising up the search results.

    Politics in a billiards forum?

I don’t mind the NPR section existing but I wish it was excluded from search results.

Does Anyone Ever Get to the Point of Saying...

During Covid I played every day. Easily can say I am another 50 points higher from it. Might have been close to a 600 for a minute. But once life resumed. Completion resumed. Playing maybe a few times a week resumed, I can easily say I’m not where I was then. I expect a roller coaster...

    Sky weighs in on WPA...

This reinforces some perspective for me. I don’t know if this is just WNT pros that didn’t sign up or people that did sign up and backed out. I’m not interested in how that reflects on individual players. It just is a reminder that playing under the WPA structure is a benefit to players in...

How to Easily Detect a DOUBLE HIT FOUL - best video to date on this topic

I think it’s a great video. Nice to have a compact version of it. I definitely shared it to my city’s FB group. Only critique is the audio test does prove a point but I kinda thought it a tad unnecessary and drawn out in that might be a point people start dropping off the video and miss the...

    Facebook groups

I know some have strict standards like counting all the points on a cue and all other details they specify as required.

    What would you have done?

CSI Rules have a few remedies for that. I assume if no ref is present then both players would have to agree to any modifications.

    Facebook groups

Many groups have automated admin assist rules. And some have manual post approval where they don't approve posts that meet their criteria. Some groups may even be strict if you're selling cues or just posting low value dribble.

    What would you have done?

I think the applicable rule is 1-33. And I would also remind them of rule 1-3 An object ball can go into a pocket and bounce back out and come on the table and it doesn't stay down. All that happens while the ball is "in motion". So clearly a ball "in motion" doesn't end its motion the...

PRA (WNT governing body) suspends and investigates Kyle Amoroto for match fixing

Innocent until proven guilty is a court of law thing. And of course the PRA will do their due diligence. But Marboys already made their decision and made a video explaining their decision and rationale. The player he attempted to fix a match with came forward and said he had the messages that...

    Tapatalk broken for anyone else?

Okay. That’s hilarious. I honestly can’t tell if it was intentional or not and it’s killing me. I also can’t tell if it’s just me so the only recourse was to screenshot it. Wild stuff.

    Colorado Open Sept 13-25 2024

I’m not aware of their handicapping system but I assume it’s not going to be purely open. I do know they have player ratings called a UPscore. And this is an excerpt of a post from a LO in North Idaho.

    Colorado Open Sept 13-25 2024

They have launched 39 leagues across 21 states this year from Washington to Florida. They are advertising a league grand finals with a $100k prize to the 1st place team. Perhaps a real benefit is their use of shot clocks and match clocks in league play. I would say having leagues end at a...

    Colorado Open Sept 13-25 2024

I could see that. And with the Ultimate Pool Leagues forming up across the nation, there may be a revenue stream they can eventually pull from to justify those loss leader expenses. Since it is the inaugural year of this promoter in this market, it's not surprising to see those tactics...
