    Shane vs. Fedor

They better be careful. I think I see Johnny sneaking up to steal the money off the light.

    Is your stroke this good?

Definitely have to know what you're doing and get through it pure to execute that. I do know the cueball likes to grab off the rails differently on different tables, rails, felt, etc. I've played some places where you're not getting that level of bite off the rails no matter how well you hit...

Start with what happens when a rising cueball hits a close up object ball head on. Look at it from a side view. It doesn't take long before it contacts the object ball and then has its course redirected to a new trajectory that's very near vertical. It's a "vertical tangent line". 90 degrees...

It's not all that hard to evaluate. When the cueball and object ball are 3" away from each other, the cueball has plenty of opportunity to climb on top of the object ball and result in a tangent line that is erratic and hard to anticipate. But also, when the cueball and object ball are 3"...

To the best of my ability to assess CJ's video, he demonstrated a shot that was a good hit. There's reason to believe Sky was attempting a different approach to the shot and the placement of his balls were slightly different. But even if we assumed he was trying the same thing CJ did, it would...

Start out expecting it to follow the tangent line. It doesn't have to come back immediately because the spin won't necessarily grab immediately. So it can shoot out 90 degrees no problem. Since you're likely jacked up, the ball can hop a little too. That can actually send it forward by a...

SVB withdraws from future WPA events

Correct. The ACBS has the authority to make those kinds of decisions regarding events in their continent and regarding players representing from their continent. I would argue in some cases the ACBS is violating the WCBS charter. In other cases they are operating within their right, even if...

Also the Spanish Open which was originally advertised as June 25-30 but then just dropped silently off the schedule. I'm wondering if the WPA quietly had a victory on that one.

They are listed as “Men’s events” where Turning Stone is color coded as a “Member Event” 🤷‍♂️

In CJs shot his camera man is moving but you can see in general his cueball reasonably is following the tangent line before biting back. It's pretty clear Sky's shot was double hit to send it far above the tangent line before biting back.

That makes sense to me. It comes up because these players have all cam forward saying: And so it was curious if the Intl Open was sanctioned and if these players were going to boycott it. But it appears not sanctioned and moot. The only other US-based tournament that would raise that same...

To be honest, I know Marcel has made mistakes before. It turns out he was 100% correct and handled it right this time. And I would very much prefer as a referee that he show some decisiveness even when wrong. Ideally you want to minimize being wrong but nobody wants to watch a referee second...

Does this mean Jayson is no longer looking to win another Turning Stone?

SVB withdraws from future WPA events

Great question. It's been sanctioned with the WPA in the past. I don't see it on the WPA Calendar this year. Perhaps it's unsanctioned with the WPA. Also it is a WNT ranking event on the Matchroom schedule. So perhaps it's definitely unsanctioned with the WPA.

And just to give it a visual. It's hard to gauge the exact tangent line but wherever it was, that cueball flew well forward of that line. Much more than you can account for with ball hop.

I’m very inclined to believe Jim. That means Sky’s shot was 100% a blatant foul.

The smaller pockets are helping the weak players, its very deep and people don't see it.

From the exchange it seemed to me the referee didn’t know you could shoot straight into frozen balls legally and he didn’t know it was his responsibility to declare it was frozen. Because otherwise if he was going to stick to his double hit call I would have expected in his exchange with Sky...

I am surprised the WCBS allows some of the actions of the ACBS.
