Blade is dull....wrong TPI for the type of wood and thickness you're cutting. These are 2 quick reasons I can think of that would give poor quality results. Feeding too fast might be another. But there could a few other culprits that would cause this. Hard to tell without standing at your saw.

Thanks guys...appreciate the info. I've heard guys talking here about turning pens and found these in a drawer from way back when. I'll throw back in the drawer if nobody wants them.

I've had a few questions about the sizes of the billets. I've measured the best I could but the sizes I'll give you are close but approximate. These are scrap to me and I don't have the time to measure each pc. exactly. 7pcs -12 long/.065 thick/.550 wide 4pcs - 12 long/.063 thick/.900 wide...

Personally, I never cared for the 90* included bits. For me, too much chance for possible tool pressure and push off. Some guys like them but have probably figured out how to compensate for the challenges they can present. There's no perfect way, but some setups may have less of a challenge...

If your setup for cutting the pockets are spot on and the veneers are all the exact same thickness there should not be a problem. These are the first 2 places I would look to make sure even points come out consistent. How you are cutting the pockets.....? With what you are cutting the...
