Biggest pet peeve in cue building is anyone that doesn't have a mind creative enough to do anything for their own design. Stop copying the SW cue design and calling it your cue. They call it "a tribute"....I call it bullsh!t. Work on getting a creative bone in your own body and stop copying...

10-4 I probably watched Elia do 20-25 wraps and I modified many of the things I watched him do to my liking. I quit doing the stacks when I started putting single piece wraps on. I can do 3-4 one piece wraps in the time it takes to do 1 stack. They do look nice when installed correctly.

Then I would not touch it. If you were going to play with the cue even clear coating without scuffing it may be a problem down the road. It would be hard to scuff it without possibly taking some of the marker off even using a scotch type pad.

The 2 faces at the joint possibly need shaved off between centers. If the cue mechanic wants to do it with only the joint side sticking out from the chuck of the lathe, kindly say no thank you and go find someone else who understands how to do it between centers. Maybe only 1 face is off but...

When the shaft is rolled by itself? Sounds like a possible face problem. Find a good cue mechanic near you and have them take a look.

Wear a mask and/or make sure you soak it (the carbide, not the mask) when you're grinding. My local guy used to be the best. Now he only wants to do production stuff where they set up and do a minimum of 10 pcs per.

I cringe every time I read a statement like this. And every time I do it's always the same reply from me..... NEVER EVER EVER EVER ship anything in a round tube. Simple scenario....say you're shipping a full length one piece cue in a round tube. Slide a triangle box over both ends and tape...

Tomato stake. Not a fan for this type wood being used in a cue. Even cored it is susceptible. On top of that it doesn't sound good. Sorry for your loss.

It's all about the consistent color. Not a big fan myself of how wood veneers look when the cue is rotated.

The "noise" could be coming from a number of different things. Only the process of elimination will lead to what it is. tip ferrule something loose somewhere in the cue that only shows up on certain shots I've chased some noises in cues to the point where you begin to think it's between your...

I've always been a proponent of the shorter ferrule as far back as 25 yrs ago. Darn copy cats now! ;) Just to add to your comment, I use a thru style ferrule with a large threaded tenon so I do like the thin phenolic pads for that support. Plus it helps keep the repair guys 😶‍🌫️ from shaving...
