Carbon Fiber Shafts should be Banned

It's not the cue industry chewing through the supply of figured Maple, it's the electric guitar industry.

Carbon Fiber Shafts should be Banned

Carbon fiber technology is widely used now, it's superior to many other materials. Formula 1 cars, all manner of sporting equipment, aircraft, hell GMC now offers a carbon fiber composite truck bed on their 1500's. Maybe it's the price of CF shafts, some people seem personally offended when...

Carbon Fiber Shafts should be Banned

I purchased a Revo 11.8 last week, no ping. It was a $200 upgrade for the Predator 9K-2 cue I purchased.

Carbon Fiber Shafts should be Banned

I purchased two Predator's recently with CF Revo shafts, neither sounds hollow or pings. They don't sound any different than my wood shaft cues.

    New cloth

I recently installed Simonis 860HR on my Pro 8 Gold Crown. Significant burn lines in both the classic and 2nd ball 8 ball break areas. It's almost too fast the balls roll and roll and roll vs the local 9 foot GC's at the pool hall. I'll likely try the Strachan cloth soon since I need to make a...

Carbon Fiber Shafts should be Banned

I just purchased a Predator CF cue and break cue, loving them vs my wood cue and break cue. I'll never go back to wood.

    Break Cue Features and Justification

I used a Pechauer break cue, 19oz same as my main Pechauer cue. Way better cue to break with. Larger tip and beefy shaft with far less deflection.

These scum will steal anything these days. They stole my garbage can 4 times and my huge recycle bin 3 times.

Gold Crown IV Pro 8 Rebuild

I did not buff them though they may have been buffed prior. The previous owner purchased it from someone who buys and refurbishes gold crowns. Apparently refurbishing means it was just made to look pretty because I had to do a lot of work to address the tables many issues.

Gold Crown IV Pro 8 Rebuild

@realkingcobra @bradsh98 the Makita belt sander worked great! After many more hours and some frustration...she's done! Played the first few games on her this evening. The Makita sliding miter saw and sanding disc also worked great. Could NOT have rebuilt this table without a LOT of tips and...

    Valley Table pockets

Correct. Then end to end it's a 60% stretch on the first end, then 100% stretch on the opposite end. Wear gloves or finger protection I peeled skin off my knuckles on the recover.

Gold Crown IV Pro 8 Rebuild

The belt sander arrived, 4 rails done 2 to go! I'm taking them 90% there with the belt sander and finishing with the Dremel drum sander. That belt sander removes material quick.

To measure the corner pocket radius for the skirt...I went through my pots and pans lids until I found one the same size.

Searching for solution for my rails problem.

Not likely, 3D printer work cubes are too small. Mine is large but will only print 16.5 inches in length, not nearly enough for a rail section length and that printer cost $6,000. The cost and time would be astronomical vs applying a laminate material. You can 3D print pocket skirts! I ran into...

It WILL soak through. It takes some practice to apply enough glue but not so much that it soaks through. Fortunately as an amateur attempting my first ever table recover I put wax paper between the fold in the cloth just in case it soaked through. (y)

Gold Crown IV Pro 8 Rebuild

@realkingcobra @bradsh98 thanks for the tips. Looks like I could order the sander next day but the belts are a week or more out. I'll give this some thought. Update: Found one that comes with the belts, ordered should arrive tomorrow. Glen yeah I used masking tape when applying the RKC250 which...

Gold Crown IV Pro 8 Rebuild

Well that was easy, all the cushion facings are now installed, only took 30 minutes. I had applied the glue earlier so maybe add another 30 minutes for the whole job. Next comes the pucker factor of trimming the cushion facings. I think I'll let the glue cure until tomorrow before attempting...

Gold Crown IV Pro 8 Rebuild

Well now making progress, new cushions installed, repeated this for 5 more rail sections. Man what a chore which began with stripping the built up gobs of glue off the pocket faces to get to bare wood. Various small repairs. Next I'm gluing cushion facings on in 3...2...1
