A couple Palmers I'm trying to get

The one with the foil is a simple house cue, no veneers. You can tell by the joint collar The one with a ring in the butt sleeve, I believe is a simple maple cue from the third catalog. They are not worth the $400 or so the bids are at. Just my .02.

    Torrefied Maple - OB Shafts

Torrification or baked woods is when it is heated in an oxygen free environment causing the excess moisture to evaporate. It does do wonders for guitars, giving them that 50 year old sound in a new guitar. I would think that the baked maple would be better for a forearm.

    Ivory ferrule replacement in Oregon

Because he is in Washington and most of his customers come from Oregon, he doesn’t want to deal with any issues involving the crossing of state lines. I appreciate the offer, but if I can make my way down to Eugene, Sheldon Lebow said he could help me out.

    Ivory ferrule replacement in Oregon

I’m in the Portland area and my repair guy just over in Vancouver is not doing any ivory anymore. I have an old Schon shaft with an ivory ferrule that is cracked. I’m wondering if there is anybody that might recommend me someone in Oregon that will replace the ferrule with ivory.

    What pin is this?

Is this something like 3/8x18? Also, any idea who uses this pin? Joint is ivory. Cue is kinda thin, no weight bolt, thin black buttcap. This is the only pic I took.

    cue join type

The first clue about a low end cue is the use of Ramin wood, which your cue is. The joint is a strange import style, probably from the 1970’s. I would not spend any money on having a new shaft made. It is not worth it. I believe your “inlays” are actually paint or stickers.

    Refinish or not?

I believe McD offers a refinish and a new shaft for older cues at right around $300, with linen or leather.

    Black boar AS 3 value?

I believe his early cues do not command the same price as his newer cues. My gut tells me $2.5k.

Cue Lost - USPS Shipping - Who's Responsible??

Not trying to beat a dead horse, but I insure everything over $200 or so. I never ask the buyer if he wants insurance, I always do it on my own, it comes out of my profit, as it gives me relative coverage and piece of mind. The way I see it, would you rather spend an extra $20 or create a...

    What a Steal

Maybe 15 or so years ago I bought a cue from a similar company. I think I paid $120 or something along those lines. When I showed my new purchase in the cue and case gallery, an AZ’er, Mortuarymike maybe, recognized the cue as one that had been owned by his friend. Apparently his friend had...
