I am not a great player but being in NZ my table is an 8 by 4 with 3 inch pockets (snooker cut) and 2 inch balls resulting in a ratio of 1.5 to 1 I don't see how this would be that much of an easier table than a 9 footer with 4.5 inch pockets and 2 1/8 inch balls. Even if the ball to pocket...

Good post and point. Smaller tables, (with smaller pockets) make for some impressive viewing as a whole additional level of players seem to be able to compete on these. I don't disagree that the bigger tables may help separate the men from the boys, look at the 12 by 6 snooker tables with 3.5...

Really simple question for you guys, how do I "Play the ghost" in practice (8-ball) This is what I am currently doing, I am setting up 3 solids and 3 stripes, plus the 8 ball, then breaking (chosen 3 balls as I am a real beginner and need to work on a number of areas) I then take ball in hand...

Yep, I agree 100% but I am still trying to figure out "what" to practice. I have these DVDs to try and sort my fundamentals and hopefully give me some insight into how I should structure my practice as opposed to just trying to run racks.

Have just finished the first dvd of this series and all I can say is wow! He (and Mark Wilson) make everything look so easy. The sections on speed control, hangers, tangents and position have opened my beginner eyes soooo wide. Only downside is I am going to have to re-watch it all with a pen...
