Some players like curly shafts and order them. The first guy I noticed having curly shafts was Bob Byrne. I think he mentions his preference in one of his videos. As to why you don't see more of them, my simple opinion would be that cue makers save curly/tiger for their butts.

Ask the owners of the places you play for info on a local cue tech. A new tip and ferrule is not expensive, nor hard for someone with the right tools and knowhow. It's not something you want to tackle by yourself if you have niether. You won't be happy with the results unless it's done right. If...

As long as it rolls on the table straight! LOL I had a guy that continued to rub a brown pad up and down his shaft between shots. His shaft was down to 7 mm where he stroked. He even used to break with it. I couldn't believe it never broke on him, but it didn't.

Thanks Stan for the interesting videos! The fake pocket video. That made good sense to me. This is just my opinion, but I think you would see the same issue to a lesser degree on a non regulation table. That is, any table that isn't twice as long as it is wide. I think CTE is a ctr of the pocket...
