    Zundert, X-mas tournament

27 - 30 December, in Zundert (Netherlands): a very interesting annual three cushion tournament with 16 top players. Four flights of 4 round robin, followed by an 8 player knock-out, all matches to 50. Tasdemir, van Kuijk, Burgman, van Beers, van Erp, van de Ven, Hofman, Christiani, Bitalis...

To Professor Q ball and USBA. and to Bert van Manen

Steve was very diplomatic about it. He merely asked if I would consider it, should the USBA approach me for a post. I respectfully declined (instantly). That is not what I am good at. People seem to enjoy my articles about 3-cushion, so that is my way of making a small contribution to the sport...

    Forthomme equalises world record

Bill, your comment about adjusting to short and long tables, not only in the way you PLAY a shot but also in the way you PICK your shot, is worthy of the very big font you use. Agree 100 %. You are sort of right, but not quite, about the highest tournament average. Caudron's 2.480 is the...

    Forthomme equalises world record

The 28 run made by Junichi Komori was made in the same room (as Forthomme's) in Zundert, on Verhoeven tables. Ceulemans made his 28 in Waalwijk in 1998, also on Verhoevens.

    Forthomme equalises world record

Not to mention the fact that van Kuyk ran 27 himself, in Turnhout in 2010, and had a really easy 28th! He missed it, because he was doing too much work on the second ball, in order to make sure of #29. He told me: "I'd give 1000 euro instantly, if I could play that 28th again, just make it and...

    50 in 13

Following last week's superb matches by Bury (40 in 9) and Zanetti (40 in 8), two more world class performances this week: Dave Christiani wins 50 - 27 in 13 against Roland Forthomme in the Belgian league, and Jef Philipoom beats Kees Wittens 50 - 13 in 13 in the Dutch league. Personal best for...

    Time clock

Chess clocks Don't intend to take a position in the debate, just want to provide some info that may be helpful. As BJ said, Europe has gone through this process in the past 20 years, and we've asked ourselves the same questions. 1) Time-keeping, in some form, is a very good thing from a...
