Buzz - A joint issue and a potential repair. Pics

I rigged my live threading gear tonight and I do for sure have some issues. My father re-worked my spindle by changing the bearings and the TIR is just horrible. You notice it very well when you use a long threading mill... So I need to machine a new setup for my DeWalt spindle which would take...

Buzz - A joint issue and a potential repair. Pics

Ahh - had forgotten that one but I think that solution could change the weight and possible the hit so I think I would go for all wood or in worst case Joeys solution. Thanks for the reminder though  K

Buzz - A joint issue and a potential repair. Pics

Hmm, did not think of that one. I have never used any phenolic in a A joint but it should be doable. The problem is live threading deep - which is a problem with the tools I have (inside that is). I think if I should live thread the idea of using the wood tenon and live thread at the opening...

Buzz - A joint issue and a potential repair. Pics

Thanks Dan. Solution 2) in other words. Hmm - this would for sure make the most "clean" repair since there would be no metal parts inside which could cause issues. The cue it self is not cored but it has - I guess 10-15cm cored in each end. I found it strange that there was nothing to hold...

    Ever replace those padded wraps?

"Sports grip" cues I did a P2 some years ago and it was a pain in the A http://www.kendocues.com/Websted/P2.html I think I posted this work up here but have not searching. The idea was to get rid of it all - the backing "leather" and so forth and then I used stacked leather. On the linked I...

Buzz - A joint issue and a potential repair. Pics

The problem Well, I cleaned both ends up and as mentioned I had to core the last section out since my endmill was not long enough. Then I turned the ID to 17mm. The problem I'm now facing is as follows : The core was not jointed with a metal screw in any ends. The cue was fairly week in the...

Buzz - A joint issue and a potential repair. Pics

More cavities The purple/pink ish stuff was used as a filler for sure... I center bored with a endmill, then turned it slowly to go through the pinkish material and then used a EDIT:16mm endmill, coring drill and finished with a turning tool to make it 100% straight walled.

Buzz - A joint issue and a potential repair. Pics

I have been making some dust - again due to this Philippine cue I have been working on now for a long time. First it was the joint which dissolved and I repaired - now the cue has started to make a buzz in the A joint. The owner is very fond of this cue - it plays after his liking and I made...

    Meucci Ultimate Weapon shaft

I have no relation ship to Meucci and I'm not going to discuss what I think about their current products - but I have a customer asking if I can get him this shaft. Asking Mr.Google gives me just the "big words" but could some one tell me - is this still just flat laminated veneer shafts as...

    Lathe chucks for cue building

Good to hear, the one I use has been working fine. BOY did you hit the nail regarding non-centered pin and warpage... I had to use thick 800 sandpaper (!) on the last cue I repaired to index it correctly on my 6 jaw and it was a pain in the A to do every time it was removed from the...

    Lathe chucks for cue building

Damn Dick, that is a good setup-me like:smile: After I mounted my 6 jaw I have not done mutch to it-it's pretty good if I keep it clean. Have you experienced that your's don't hold tolerances and change over time hence use your trick with the small 4jaw? I was considering a collet chuck but the...

    Chuck recomendations

Bill, I'll have a look-I know I did some picks of the setup before and after but I'm not sure if I did some during install. The original was mounted directly to the drive plate and was ok. The plate added a bit of distance from the headstock but the carriage was not able to move close enough to...

    West System pumps

Michael / Royce I did read up on it last night and they look like a good thing to have but I was wondering ; is it ok to leave larger portions of resin/epoxy in the containers over time or do you fill the day you plan using it? In a high throughput enviroment like Royce is running I see the...

    West System pumps

Thanks a bunch Kim and Bob. I ordered a lit from West so it would be interesting to start experimenting with this. I have a Asian cue donated by the owner due to internal buzz in the A joint. Would chop it at the A and see if a recore and new tenon glued with West would cure it :-) Royce- I...

    West System pumps

Thanks Joey and Royce. Joey, your numbers helps a lot, Royce, you know your gadgets ;-) Looks super nice, would have to read up on it though. Did you get my email by the way. No wonder the sales man did not respond at all. I guess he's happy I'll spend way to mutch just for some small work...

    West System pumps

Thanks guys. I guess the pumps was a waist of time, until I buy a boat or something... The scales is ready to go so I'll get something small enough to mix it in now. For clear I have use larger syringes to mix clear but I'll go for the weight as recommended. Have a nice saturday and happy cue...
