    Question Regarding Handicapped Tournaments

In general I dont think there is however since you own the venue that might be another story. Generally, the way I look at it is most tournaments probably would never happen if the TD wasn't allowed to play. Handicap TD's especially tend to hear a lot of crap about handicaps being wrong and is...

Is Practice on a 10’ Table Advised for Matches on a 9’ Table?

They are much harder to adapt because on the 10 footer you cant reach MANY shots you would take on a 9 footer. If you want to shoot them they are like 2 or 3 feet longer. This makes pocketing the ball harder and controlling the speed and direction of the shot harder as well.

Looking for LaTeX literate to create Billiards Package

The biggest problem I see is getting the browser companies to include the new, nonstandard, LaTeX code in their browsers. I don't see a new browser dependent wei-table style add-on as a good solution. I also dont see cutting and pasting into a markup program as a good solution either. As...

    starting strong- ?

I walk 30 minutes a day after getting up and it makes a huge difference. I also have good fundamentals. I warm up by hitting long straight in shots then progressive long cut shots to the right and to the left and I usually am on from the start. Warmup takes about 10-12 minutes. That is just...

Leil "JR" Gay has passed away

I first met JR when he was working the counter at Northfield Billiards in Ohio. I came in looking to buy some good chalk because I couldn't play with the sportcraft stuff from kmart. They didn't have any to sell but he gave me some cubes. Another time I was playing at Northfield Billiards...

    PUI (Playing Under the Influence)

Sure it increases productivity but the new code is broken and code that used to work is now broken . Alcohol does not help one bit.

    PUI (Playing Under the Influence)

I am a programmer too and I know for a fact that if I drink and code all I do is mess stuff up. I have heard a story from a reliable source of a young shane gambling a very known player and starting to play bad then going to the bathroom and coming back with white stuff under his nose... they...

    PUI (Playing Under the Influence)

Almost all of the old timers 9-ball great players were loaded up on drugs. I learned this from an oldtime pro. And according to him if you aren't doing drugs you aren't reaching your full potential. Of course the drugs we are talking about here are speed and tranqulizers.

Hours, weeks, months, years, and I’m still lousy

Its not the 9-ball ghost. It is much easier because there rarely are any trouble spots: No real clusters to deal with and no tied up pockets or combos. ie: it is so much easier than the real ghost. It is also known as the 'soft ghost'.

You can place 6 balls around a single ball (7-ball flower rack), so each additional ball takes up 360/6=60 degrees of a ball. But when you add each additional ball there is also 360 degrees added but because it is attached to another ball so it is actually 360-60=300 additional degrees...

I like where you are going with here It is what i see as a dynamic programming method except I think its overcomplicated for a problem where an accurate approximation is definitely possible using a non-iterative general formula. It would need to be reduced to an algorithm and then run by a...

We dont know what kind of equipment he is playing on. It could be favorite for 9-ball BIH on a valley bar box or something which is definitely not an A player. Or some stock bucket GC or whatever. Also, he isnt breaking, the layouts get a lot harder when you start breaking.

Hours, weeks, months, years, and I’m still lousy

Definitely. In the youtube matches you are mostly watching people play on brand new equipment. In the pool room they are playing on the peoples cloth. You also cant get a good feel watching a video as to the layout, how fast they are hitting the ball, how smoothly they are hitting the ball...

Throwing the balls out is not a good way to gauge yourself. Those runouts have no real obstacles. Anyways, you saw one tournament (and only one or two matches?) of this asian man. He might not do what you saw all the time. The better that you get at this game the more your realize that...

    9 Ball for 3 Players

And when someone fouls it is option to make them shoot again. And if someone scratches CB is behind the line and if the lowest ball is also behind the line it is spotted. If someone scratches on 9 and makes it then it is spotted and CB behind the line.

I agree due to symmetry there is definitely an over-count when assigning ball locations. I think how much of an over-count is somewhat a matter of opinion depending upon if the shooter is ambidextrous or not. I suppose the solution to this is to divide (968 choose 10) by 4? Furthermore, I...
