Anyone heard any more news on willeecue?

Well that is all good news. I sent him an email from his site concerning getting in line to have a cue built and didn't hear back from him so I was fearing the worst. I can't imagine how long it would take me to come back from something like that. Although I will probably get me chance to...

Bought a Metal lathe, what next???

I see how you could not use a wood lathe for tips and ferrules, but can a wood lathe be used to turn butts and shafts? Or is doing something like a pro taper on a wood lathe pretty much impossible? Thanks Tim

    Dust collectors

I use a Delta 1.5 HP collector that is a little noisy but does the job. If you only are going to have a couple of work stations another option is a portable dustcollector like Delta offers. It is cheaper and you can just move it from machine to machine instead of running all that 4" hose...

is an old hoppe 2 piece good for a conversion?

I am new to most of this so please forgive a stupid question or two. So a conversion is taking a older one piece cue and converting it to a more modern dimensioned 2 or 2+ piece cue? Also, is the shaft section of the original just discarded and only the butt section retained, mating it with a...

Last posted comment I saw on willeecue as back in January. Anyone heard anything on how he is doing or if he is thinking about getting back to cue making? Tim

I wanna build cues, any shopowners want me?

Stewart-Macdonald sells the foredom rotary tool which looks like it might have a higher quality bearing. The also have lots of carbide dremel bits but no 60 degree bits that I saw. Luthiers usually use a straight downcut spiral for inlays. Tim

Is it true that Lil John........

Eydie You do all the posting and all the work. I think you should get your own id and take the credit you deserve. Maybe Bob can start to use your id and say he is "Eydie's husband" ;-) Tim

    Viking 9-ball at Palace Billiards

Charlie This was my first time seeing a 9-ball tournament live and as a novice player I was absolutely astounded for 4 days straight (Thurs thru Sunday). I found most of the players very approachable but none of them was as free with their advice and time as you were. Several people I...

IS anyone shooting a Mike Gulyassy Custom Cue?

Thanks for the insite. He had one cue at a the Viking 9 ball tournment that I liked a lot. But at $900, it just seemed to high. I didn't try and bargain with him as he didn't stike me as the type that would appreciate that. He did do a great job of putting a new ferrel and tip on my...

The Viking National Championship and Mike Janis, The BEST in the Business!

No kidding. I asked him to sign my copy of "small motions" after his match with Strickland. Seemed appropriate. I think his new nickname ought to be Neils "the punk" Feijen ;-)

The Viking National Championship and Mike Janis, The BEST in the Business!

Brunswick 9' tables. New cloth. Not sure it was championship cloth or not. Most of the players were complaining a bit about how fast the tables were. Had to hold back to get the cue ball position they were looking for. I saw some playing when not competing but not very many. John Schmidt a...

    Earl Strickland and the UPA

Well if his behavior at the Viking 9-ball tournament at Palace Billiards is any indication, they ought to decline his re-admission. Couldn't believe he called Neils Fiejen a "punk" at the table. They had to get an official to sit at the match to keep him in line. And then throwing the...

IS anyone shooting a Mike Gulyassy Custom Cue?

Just wondered if anyone was shooting with one of Mike Gulassy's custom cues. (Not a sledgehammer, one of his custom shooting cues.) I saw some and they looked really interesting. (Liked one in particular really well). Any comments on the hit and quality would be much appreciated. Thanks Tim

    how you say? Ah yes!

I started playing with a sneaky pete as a break cue and I was wondering if any one knows how to say, in spanish, either "give me my cue" or "that is my cue" Does "deme mi taco" or "eso es mi taco" sound right? I think "that is my stick" is "eso es me palo" On two occasions I have had...

    Break/Jump Cues...Worth the $$$

Try putting a Joe Picone white diamond break tip on your current break cue. Makes a big difference in the hit. You can get them from piconecue.com or watch ebay. He sells them in lots of 3 there and you can often get 3 for the price of one. They are a fiber/resin tip, very hard but they hold...

What's the best way to clean a dirty ferrule?

I'm a little new to all this but I have used Novus 2 (red bottle) on my ferrel and it worked very well. It is a scratch remover for plexiglass so it is a very very mild abrasive. I also use it on guitar finishes which are generally finished in lacquer. Doesn't raise the grain on the shaft like...

Internet sellers of collectable and custom cues

http://www.wolfbite.com/ was it! Thanks. Although I am seeing a ton of stuff in my price range on onethehill.net If you all have anymore, please post them. Can't get enough of these links. And thanks again. Could have saved my self about 6 hours of surfing if I had asked last...
