On the 8, no hit, scratch = Loss of game?

In most parts of the country this is a loss, in the national leagues (TAP/APA not 100% sure about the BCA) this is a loss, if you look hard enough you will be able to find it written otherwise but that this is a loss is MUCH more common. One way is not smart/correct and another stupid/wrong...

Cheating in the 8 ball league...

I play in the WPPL where it is divided into sections and divisions there is no such thing as sandbagging because the whole team you are playing is about the same skill level (or is supposed to be) except in very rare circumstances, the handicap system will always be more sandbag accepting; it...

Cheating in the 8 ball league...

You can’t stop it; it will always be there (see posts from poolguy4u) If you figure out a better way please contact the national leagues immediately; that may sound like a smarta$$ thing to say but I am totally serious. in excess of 2.5 is a lot of leeway if you think about it lets say they...

Cheating in the 8 ball league...

I am not surprised you are  playing a safe when you have a duck is not missing on purpose; I don’t think I have to diagram that out for you. As long as you admit that was a defensive shot no it isn’t, when you lie and say you were playing the shot is when it becomes cheating. As...

Cheating in the 8 ball league...

It’s ok to cheat because I have been cheated and everybody cheats that is so old and lame I can’t even believe it’s still prevalent.

Predator 314 shaft or McDermott Intimidator

The 314 is quite old tech compared to the “I” shaft, there are a million LD shafts out there my suggestion would be to try as many as you can before you buy one and see what YOU like best.

Why can’t system and HAMB coexist?

Yea I said “I know I am new” I will do that but the whole reason for my post was that I found that all those that say “you just need practice” to be the most repeated thing on here, right up there with disapproval of jump cues, I just think to say that over and over again is just silly.

Cheating in the 8 ball league...

At the TAP nationals anyone who’s score in a single match was found to be 1.5 or 2.5 (can’t remember which) stronger than their assigned handicap they were disqualified and that match was an automatic loss. It is cheating plain and simple.

Why can’t system and HAMB coexist?

I will go ½ way with you there yes the lazy and people that are the lower 50% as far as intelligence goes want to make it “easier” but I think the upper 50% as far as intelligence goes and the highly motivated want to do it “better and more efficiently”. And the latter have done more for...

Cheating in the 8 ball league...

Let me just make sure I understand you chefjeff and poolguy4u are you making the suggestion that sandbagging (playing to less than your ability so that you manipulate your handicap so that it is lower than it would be if you didn’t so that you can increase your chances of winning a given match)...

Why can’t system and HAMB coexist?

I am fairly new to the forum but I do have a serious question for the “aiming system naysayers”; why is it that when the aiming system advocates start to talk there is always someone who says “you don’t need an aiming system you need to HAMB” or “there is no substitute for practice” or something...

    Making it vs. Shape

What’s a good shot and what’s a great shot? Good shots involve the pot; great shots involve the pot and the position, if you settle for good shots you will never become a good player let alone a great one. There are shots that come up where the requirement of getting ideal shape would make the...

    Help picking new shaft.

This was my main complaint about the 1st generation LD’s. (to me) McDermotts “I” shafts “hit” like a “standard” shaft. When I 1st used one (the I-2) I didn’t know it was an LD shaft. But as I will always say “there is no magic pool equipment” the best you can do is balance it and make it “feel”...
