question about a shot in 8 ball...

Play ball in pocket, not call shot; just like the pros, it eliminates all problems like this.

10 YEAR OLD TIME CAPSULE POST ...Is the world ready for cues to evolve?

^^^This^^^ Wood is cheap, looks nice, is everywhere and works great; we have been using it forever and we are all familiar with it. We brew beer, make wine, heat & cool our homes, can, refrigerate, freeze and heat our food, wash our cloths and transport ourselves from place to place in basically...

    Chalking; yes again.

Ok so this has probably come up before but now that we have Kamui it is a bit of a game changer. I hope I word this poll well and there are enough options, I have allowed multiple choice because there is actually more than 1 question here. Please read all the options before you vote there may...

    Back to the Tip Drill

Line up 2 balls perfectly (this is harder than it seems) 1 diamond away try to send ball #2 up and make contact with ball #1 a second time. You will figure out what you are doing wrong real fast.

    Cheap Break Cue advice

I am another advocate of the J&J cheap, and a good solid jump/break cue, you could probably get one on ebay for $50 or even less, use the $ you saved and get a good break tip on it, white diamons are nice and they only cost $7.95, they perform (IMHO) as well as a samsara and samsara's cost about $15

    What are you looking at?

I thought #2 was referring to the tip not "smallest point on the OB"; IMHO you have gotten tainted results in the poll, I chose #1 as it (as I read it; I now realize my error) read as being the only one that referenced looking at the OB at all, maybe some have done this to.

How commited are you to getting to the next level?

I already do this and haven't gone up a handicap in the last 6mo. :crying:

Making your opponents shoot every shot or concede out of respect?

See there you go quoting me again, let me try to explain it to you one more time, it is a question of intent. When I am playing around with my buddies I am not playing mind games with them, mild or otherwise. I am giving them a compliment, trying to speed things along and socializing with them...

Making your opponents shoot every shot or concede out of respect?

In a tournament setting there is no difference at all, he has to sink the 9ball to win, no ifs ands or buts. This is not true of social situations when I am playing around with my buddies. I am as I said not going to make him shoot it in either case always, it is situational; the biggest...

aiming and deflection... for a newbie

:confused::confused: ???????????????? what? I know I removed some words and I have noted that with dots(periods), but it sure sounds like you are saying that a loose grip, a level cue and adequate chalking will reduce deflection.

You can not hit a 1/2 a ball nor can you hit a ball thick or thinner.

Whew! I thought you were serious for a minute.

    Shaft vibration on break shot?

Well at least it helps people to identify my break cue (not everyone on the teams I shoot on has one), they look cool and they do change the "feel/report" of the hit in the boss hand. It may not have a significant effect or even any affect on the break at all; but the op was concerned about this...

    How do you kick?

I think you are one of the nicest people on this board, I hope you don't mind me giving you some of my insights. Then I would close up my bridge if I were you, you may say "well then I get a shorter bridge (bridge hand too close to the CB), and I can't get the power I need" and to that I say...

    How do you kick?

I agree but you are the kind of guy that reads everything, thinks about it and gives an answer and 1/2 the people on earth are not that way.

    Long stroke vs. short stroke?

I thought that on any draw shot the only 2 things that mattered were how low you hit it and how hard you hit it.
  19. PGHteacher

    Long stroke vs. short stroke?

    Yes but I said;

    Long stroke vs. short stroke?

Yes so far as I can tell you are the only one who has understood the question, I don't know how to phrase it any other way; at least not now. My friend (who is an excellent player) swers that type of stroke effects the CB in certain ways and I keep telling him that simple physics say otherwise...
