I have had a great response to the old yellow paper base micarta ferrules that I have been selling. I am getting low on the material that I can use for this. The rest will have to go for knife handles since that is the way I make my living. I have enough that I will make about 45-50 more...
I have the old yellow paper base micarta ferrules that many cuemakers really like. Please read older post to find out more about it.
This material makes great ferrules and has a great hit.
They are $25.00 each or buy 10 and get 12. they are 14+ mm and over 1 inch long. I will make joint size...
Since Leonard is being inducted into the HOF will that make the value of his first cues go up. I think they had a strange bolt and then the red dot on the butt.
The ones made in the early 80's, just wondering.
Thanks for any info on this.
Percy
After checking to get the cue out to take a picture of the ferrule I realized it was the old Frank Paradise cue that my son is having Billy Schick is redoing for my birthday, so I won't have a picture of the ferrule until that is back.
Sorry.

picture of shaft with micarta ferrule
Craig I will take a picture today and get it on here for you to see.
Thanks for asking good idea.
Percy/Knifemaker
Paul I know the shaft on my paradise cue has a ferrule made out of this same stuff and it plays great, but again that is all subjective to the player.
Maybe it plays great cause I used to think I played great, until someone told me the truth.
Percy/Knifemaker
John let me know if you want me to get the extension either now or when you get it.
I don't really need one but would like to try one. I don't play enough for it to matter, but always willing to help out someone if I can.
Percy/Knifemaker
If no one has sent you your money back yet I will. You can send Deacon a msg to send me the extension when he can. I have always wanted one and may not play for the next 3 months so time is of no matter to me and the 25.00 ain't going to hurt a knifemaker either. I am on the cutting edge of...
That might not be a good idea. They wanted to vote me to be over the Dixie League, which is little league baseball for 9-13 year olds.
After I told them the first thing I would do is ban all parents then they changed their mind. I am strong willed and don't see gray all issues are black and...
This material does not have the asbestos in it. It is as I said all along
Old Yellow Paper Based Micarta. Knifemakers have been using it for 40 years and it is a great material that holds up well and ages well.
Knifemaker
As I had said earlier I would let Billy Schick check this out as he is a Hall Of Fame cue maker, and His thoughts could have some meaning as he is honest and to the point on things.
What he said is this is the same suff he used in the 70's and was good ferrule material. He also said he does not...
Marcus thanks for the verification onthe schon and southwest and palmer I had just seen cues that had that posted with them and id not understand.
Percy
Of all the cues that I see posted that says micarta ferrules I haven't seen any with micarta like FAST_N_LOOSE sent me an e-mail of. I have seen some thatis yellowish but nothing with the grain like his has.
Just my observation and wondering if Palmer, Schon and Southwest used what he had or...
Westinghouse made micarta in the 70's that you could get any color you wanted. Information from the engineering supervisor was that if you bought a batch they would make it anyway and any colr you specified. When they started using the epoxy resin they had a real problem with pot life it was...
Low down from the engineer that designed micarta.
I spent a good part of the afternoon speaking with a gentleman that worked at westinghouse from 1957-1991 He was an engineer in the plastics division and talked a lot about the products.
People have heard of Bakalite plastic material it was...
