    Jump cues

I'm going to use your thread to refute this solidly. First, why do you hate jump cues? I think I know why. Stroke is a skill, right? Aiming, 1,2,3 rail leave patterns, english, throwing an OB, etc are all tools in the tool box. These are top shelf and used on almost every shot. Then we get...

    Players Cues

I had a Players 1pc butt stained straight grain maple for 1 - 2 years. I liked it at the time quite a bit. With a Triumph tip on it, it hit pretty well and was straight as an arrow. Basically, when every "I want a cue and don't know what to get" post shows up on here, I always think of that...

Go something on my mind so here we go...

You did good. When people go off inventing their own games, no matter how crazy they are, a good player adjusts like you did. See, banger pool relies on you shooting every shot in some inane attempt to make it. Pool, on the other hand is a game played with rules that apply evenly to both...

    Leveling a pool table

In another thread there are people who say a table mechanic must have a machinists level. I don't doubt that it is a great tool for getting the spot it is resting on level, but I thought table leveling was about getting a balance of all the unevenness of the slate. Basically, a level will get...

    Flawless Cues

I thing we need to define some kind of cue condition. Everything is mint, flawaless, perfect condition, really? or playable. . .what is playable condition? Personally, I think condition for cues can be defined as original surface condition percentage + notes of damage. For example: A cue is...

    WTB: first good playing cue

I like the Schon idea which was posted on here. For me, any Schon I have tried hit about like the others and was a great cue. Be wary of a Schon which someone improved by retappering, etc. All in all, buying a Schon is excellent advice. Schon would be custom, if they made cues by yours...

    What makes a good cue?

"good cue" is hard to define, but where you are at, I would define it as: Tha same cue everytime Absolutely no shaft damage A perfectly maintained tip A platform to try new tips Straight Your choice linen wrap, leather wrap, wrapless All that can be had for $150 or less.

    WTB: first good playing cue

Frankly, I would find th $100 - $150 cue you like best. Then use that to decide what you want in a $500 or so $ cue.

    which break tip?

Let me sum up the last 60 break tip threads. 60% Samsara, 30% White Diamond, 10% other. I would choose Samsara or WD, but I was offered Madman super hard or something as an alternate... It has good reviews. Probably be fine. I break with an Emerald now and it is fine.

Proper way to use a tip-tool

Well, I must be different. I use a shaper with the tip up. I roll the cue on the floor with my socks on the butt sleeve. I apply as much pressure as needed to cut leather. With a tapper, I use when the tip hard smooth spots on it. I rotate and rub on the tip like a file. Just enough to...

    lizard wraps

Just ask for seam pics of previous work. I'm sure Doug would be fine, but I haven't seen his seam pics. Isnt this a beautiful way of setting off a great cue?

    Designing your cue

To show the design, build scale rings and negociate with a customer, something like powerpoint or Impress(Open Office.org (free)) is good. I use that kind of stuff to discuss new products I wish to have made. I even made a scale model of a set of ringwork I was unsure of how it would look on...
