    Help on saftey......

Another exercise I do occasionally that comes in handy during real games: practice caroming off a ball and leaving the cueball frozen to the opposite rail. This is an extremely common maneuver and is not glorious by any means, but by putting distance between the balls and forcing your opponent...

    "Reyes Thinks Thin, Kills Shot"

The shot is great but I am more entertained by Incardona going bonkers.

    Help on saftey......

Phil Cappele's "Play your best pool" and "Play your best nine-ball" books have excellent sections on safety play. I like to practice safeties with fewer balls on the table. Throw only the first four balls out on the table and try to execute a safety on the lowest numbered ball. If you fail...

    Scuffling.

I agree, I only did this when I moved to a new state and didn't have the money to pay for table time to practice, so I would hustle at small dive bars. I called it quits when I beat one gentlement out of about $30, who informed me that both he and his rather large group of similarly attired...

Question for "feel" aimers, which comes first?

First I feel the object ball, then I feel the cueball, the I feel my opponent then I shoot.

    Wrist?

As long as your wrist is not cocked inward or outward to an extreme or otherwise in an uncomfortable position, you should forget about it. Your stroke should not come from your wrist, it should come from the movement of your forearm, and if you have a loose, controlled grip on the cue anything...

"Dippy" Dave Peat on NBC's Poker After Dark this week

I used to play around Ohio so I'm wondering if this is the same guy.......I don't know how to phrase this any more delicately but does dippy dave look, um, a little bit "special"?

    Mechanics

Just some general advice: don't get bogged down in details. I will occasionally have people ask me some question like "how do you hold your wrist for a power draw shot" or some overly detailed question about the stance. While analyzing small aspects of your mechanics can be helpful, it can...

    Adam Jadusingh

I was joking. I just think its funny this thread is getting so much attention.....seems less about people getting screwed/ big issues etc. and more like everyone enjoying a bit of drama.

Ever see someones form so out of whack . . .

There was a fellow who was a pretty decent shot, who would hold the cue with his thumb and forefinger facing the butt instead of the joint (his pinky was facing the joint). Very strange, but it seemed to work. I've actually wondered since then why more people don't do the same.

    Ohio Pool Scene...

I used to play in Northfield billiards outside of Cleveland, not sure if they are still open. BJ's diamond mine in cleveland too.....again not sure if they are still there. Fiddlestix is really the only nice room I know, there are a few decent places in Columbus as well, one called Red's I...

    The "GREAT ONE" is Back!

If my personal medical history was on public display, especially in relation to mental health, I'd be going bonkers too.

    Action in the Northeast

I find it a hell of a lot easier to find a game in New England than it was in the midwest (Ohio). As mentioned, snookers has games, Boston Billiards has games, country club, some room in Lynn i was at ( i think it was called Crystal Billiards), Rennaissance Billiards, I don't really have a...

    Aiming with English

For me to accurately compensate I always get down on the ball already applying the english. The cue is parallel to the line it would be on for center ball, but is offset in the direction the english is applied. I find this absolutely neccesary for accuracy, and if miss a shot with spin it is...

    Slip Stroke/Shot:

I've seen many, many good players throw the cue forward in their hand on the shot (stroke-slip). Just a few are Mika, Efren, and Santos.

    Hustling Costumes or "Action Aids"

When Mika and Corey dressed like goths and tried to hustle people in a nearby bar, it was the first time I saw Corey in person. This was around the time people were saying he was in a slump since he wasn't winning as much as he had in 2001, and I thought he had lost it and dressed like that all...
