Winner Break, Loser Break, Alternating Break...

There really is no reason to play other then winner breaks. You can add rules like you can't win on the break making the 9 ball it just spots and you shoot. You can play win by two so there are no hill hill games but winner breaks is best. Loser breaks is maybe the worst.

Video Documentary - Gambling, Pool, Poker and More

I don't know if he played pool but I was on an elevator with him at the US Open 14.1 years ago. He was there to watch the tournament so he must of had some interest. Another poker player Pug Pierson played good pool. He may have played in Johnston city at one time.

    Safeties

Of course the game you are playing is important but you don't really need diagrams you need "Philosophies". I will start: Never play a safety that is as hard or harder to execute as the shot. The point of a safety is to get control of the table or beat the other guy to a shot. Once...

Getting tired playing $100 one pocket.

Off subject, who is that in your picture to the left? I am sure the tall guy is you but who is the other person?

The problem isn't that non pool players don't know who Efren is

You could throw out the names of say the top dozen pool players in the world to any sportscaster ESPN what ever and they would have no idea who they were either. These pool players are entirely obscure unimportant people. I never really understand this conversation when it comes up.

I see a lot of these redo's of older tables on here. Some are amazing. Is there anyone in Florida that can do that kind of work?

Pics of my new Brunswick Centennial table in Austin

Interesting house. What would that room be if you didn't have the pool table there?

Things that a Googan might do.

I still carry an old Kelly slim case 1 butt 2 shafts. It is not that I don't need anything else, I carry my own chalk. But if I need something more I can go to my truck and get it. I don't need everything I own with me in the pool room.

Getting tired playing $100 one pocket.

I think they would have too much time to think about what they are doing. Those small gambling losses like in a bar pool setting is kind of an impulse thing. With time to think about it they would not do it in the first place. If they lost $15.00 and thats all they had they would just quit...

Getting tired playing $100 one pocket.

Now you have another problem, you may be giving odds on the money. You guys have a pocket full of money but most people don't. If you take a loss it may be a lot more then you stood to win. You have to know what the other guy has and does he have any history of going off for it. Is he worth...

The problem isn't that non pool players don't know who Efren is

Pool players may know the names through osmosis, but they are just as likely to have no interest in watching pool either. They may be the worst audience to be shooting for. They won't pay a dime to watch pool. So now what is left? Amateurs players have no interest, avid pool players have no...

Getting tired playing $100 one pocket.

The chances you were going to get paid if he owes you like a $1000. would be about zero. It is hard enough to get paid a ligit debt when you loan someone money much less a gambling debt. You are actually lucky it worked out like it did rather then chasing this guy around trying to collect what...

A T.V show that would have been better than The Hustlers

How do you know? The Hustlers "IS" on TV and that is a big accomplishment. This other show in the clip doesn't actually exist does it? It is just an idea that it seems no one has the confidence in to invest in. Ideas are a dime a dozen, the Hustlers is real.

The problem isn't that non pool players don't know who Efren is

Why would they know? Pool players are not celebrities, they don't appear on game shows or talk shows or even in the tabloids. Pool is not on TV and the players make very little money. The average pool player has only the most passing interest in the game, even if they have played all their...

Getting tired playing $100 one pocket.

He just refers to the guy as "Another patron" as though he doesn't even know the guy. Who lets some stranger go on the wire for $800.00? The story sounds like BS and the OP just wants to talk about himself, what a big time player he is. The story made so little sense I thought maybe I didn't...

Getting tired playing $100 one pocket.

I don't really understand your story. You are $800.00 ahead on the wire? And at some point you discover they only had $500.00? Besides, if you are too wimpy to play for a few extra hours don't play.

    tournament's vs gambling

That was my point, in a tournament you just show up and play the best you can. You may draw a world beater and he doesn't have to win. Once you have a little tournament experience you come to realize this. You may never in a million years gamble with this guy but in the tournament in a short...

    tournament's vs gambling

The problem a tournament player has gambling is, the decisions are not made for them. They have to decide if they should keep playing or quit. They have to evaluate if they think they can win or not. In a tournament none of this comes into play. They pay their entry fee and play as hard as they...
