What makes a Pool hall a bar or a bar a Billiard club

I've been to many different pool halls in my life at all times of day and night. Typically, Friday and Saturday nights the pool halls are full. All of the fun seekers are out, the place is almost too crowded to concentrate, and the jukebox is blasting. Any other time, pretty much none of this is...

Why do you play in your pool league?

I enjoy playing pool under most any circumstances. The reason I like league pool is because it gives me the opportunity to enjoy the company of other players and to provide a yardstick by which I can measure my own ability. Winning is more satisfying than losing for me, but losing doesn't affect...

Person Playing Pool Using Their Mind to See - WTF?!

Now they make gauze out of leather? When did that start? Was the dark room made of gauze, too? Did you even watch the video? Let's see if you could do as well with 70% of your eyesight gone and no blindfold, gauze or otherwise!

    A strange phenomenon...

The newer ones aren't nearly as bad on gas mileage as the older ones. I was moving recently and my truck was running very rich. I estimated I was getting around 5 miles to the gallon. ACK!! It took me awhile to figure out which was the bad component. Wasted a lot of money and gas, but couldn't...

    Blues Music & Pool

Johnny is AWESOME! I remember seeing him and Edgar playing Frankenstein on Ed Sullivan and thinking what amazing musicians they were. If I remember correctly, Edgar played all of the instruments for the studio recording of Frankenstein. I've seen Johnny 3 times live, once with Elvin Bishop in...

    Blues Music & Pool

The only song I can truly say that I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing (sitting in a rest stop parking lot outside Sacramento waiting for the old lady in my 1960 Dodge Town Wagon) the first time I heard it was Give Me One Reason by Tracy Chapman.

    Blues Music & Pool

It took awhile for Joe Bonamassa and Johnny Winters to show up! One of my favorites since I saw him play in a little bar in Santa Rosa, CA is Roy Rogers (no, not that one, the slide guitarist). Haven't seen Susan Tedeschi's name on here yet, either. She's awesome! Little Red Rooster & The Girl...

    American Rotation

One thing I didn't see addressed in the rules is when an extra ball or two are pocketed on a correctly made called shot; for instance, if you call the two, make it in the correct pocket but also make the uncalled seven. What happens?

    Room size for tables?

I put 9' pool and 10' snooker tables in a 24' x 24' room. For shots off the rail on the wall side of both tables, you usually have to jack up a little or use a shorter cue. In between the tables off the rail, your butt is resting on the other table. I'd say 20' is way too narrow. Plenty of room...
