I think it has a lot to do with the individual table - my table with the ridgebacks installed is as tight if not tighter than the shot on the ebay add - it's also noticeably tighter than the picture on the Ridgeback website too... YMMV - I think you are good either way.

I don't think its a traditional 'scam' as most people think - it's probably just a garage sale flipper that found a cue somewhere, saw the retail on it and tried to charge too much for it. He's just trying to sell it as quickly as possible. On the flip side of that...the cue is probably nowhere...

I just had the same experience - trying now to dial in the appropriate amount of lift above the cue to maximize view without throwing my aim off. I think it allows me to look down the table more naturally without having to strain as much looking 'up' (for lack of a better term)
