paypal as a gift for cue sellers..

I just tell people 'I'll make sure you get the right amount in the end - but it's not coming as a gift.' Only one person has had a problem with that....and it turns out he was selling stolen cues. For those curious - the fees are 2.9% + .30 so if you want to calculate what you owe.. its...

valley table rails? anyone tried these?

I think it has a lot to do with the individual table - my table with the ridgebacks installed is as tight if not tighter than the shot on the ebay add - it's also noticeably tighter than the picture on the Ridgeback website too... YMMV - I think you are good either way.

Age of my old Valley rubber?

A questions for the Valley experts out there. Just had Ridgeback rails installed on my Valley barbox and took the cloth off of one of the old rails out of curiousity. In addition to about 300 staple holes at the end of each rail and lots of missing wood - I have this Valley logo on the rubber...

    New Ridgeback Rails Installed

Got my Ridgeback Rails Pro models installed with new cloth. Could not be happier. They play excellent, and REALLY tighten up the pockets. Granted - this is on a Valley barbox circa 1979 with what looked like the original rails and rubber, so an upgrade was due. To anyone thinking about...

    Jenor urate or ronej cues???

Just a note - the top cue was put up for sale on Facebook in the Open Billiards Market on August 7 by an Eric Lacey. I contacted him about purchasing (I hadn't seen this thread) and after him telling me he didn't have PayPal but I could send it to his friend but he would only take it as a...

    Advanced Game / Drill - 2 BALL

I mean scratching after making the shot and not being familiar with tangent lines and the effect of english on them. As for break out shot I meant running into clusters after striking your object ball.

    Advanced Game / Drill - 2 BALL

I use a game similar to this for people that are lower in skill level and having problems seeing shots that will scratch afterward. You break the balls and then from that point on you strike the object balls directly - caroming them off of the cue ball to pocket them afterward. Works great for...

Tell Me If You Think This Sounds Fishy?

I don't think its a traditional 'scam' as most people think - it's probably just a garage sale flipper that found a cue somewhere, saw the retail on it and tried to charge too much for it. He's just trying to sell it as quickly as possible. On the flip side of that...the cue is probably nowhere...

    Need Info on a cue

There are some older threads here that identify these particular rhino cues as rebranded version of Quest cues, whose website seems to no longer be available. http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=106879 http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=51465 Hope this helps

    Sticky cue shaft

Yes, it will dissolve certain glues - if you soak your ferrule in it for 20 minutes or so you run the risk of loosening the ferrule. The only finish it is known to dissolve is shellac, in which it is an essential ingredient. It should have no effect on any modern finish, as it is just 90-95%...

    Sticky cue shaft

Skins - Try and get your hands on denatured alcohol, sometimes referred to as camp stove fuel. The Isopropyl alcohol you would be using will be part water (sometimes up to 30-40%) The denatured alcohol will evaporate almost instantly off of the shaft. I have taken extremely dirty shafts and...

Advice on Valley table 'ball hop'

The local bar where my team plays has 2 valley 7' bar tables. I won't sugar coat it - they aren't in the best of shape, but the owner will recover them for us when it becomes necessary. They play fairly consistenly for us. Our league doesn't play in the summer, and for the first time this...

    Sticky cue shaft

I am guessing it's just a coat of sealer and not a 'finish' You can try what I do to all my shafts and what has been discussed ad nauseum in the shaft wax forum. Using a magic eraser lightly dampened with denatured alcohol gently clean the whole of the non finished area of the shaft (works...

    Pros custom cue choice?

I always was under the impression that the pros might use 'production' (I'm using " because many get a custom fitting of a production model) cues because if something were to go wrong with a shaft or ferrule etc. you have a much greater chance of getting exactly the same thing from a production...

    Strange success story

I just had the same experience - trying now to dial in the appropriate amount of lift above the cue to maximize view without throwing my aim off. I think it allows me to look down the table more naturally without having to strain as much looking 'up' (for lack of a better term)
