    A night in the life...🤷

I never played for the amounts you guys did, because in my playing days, I was a poor soldier, with not a lot of spare dollars to risk. But this does remind me of a story back in WA. At one of my regular small tournament in Lakewood, I met this dude "Semo", who I found out to be a player from...

Your lack of an attention span is not my problem, sir. Go watch some shorts on Facebook or summin. Let the intelligent adults converse amongst themselves, please. Was that short enough for yah, brocephus?

    Predator is doing Eurotour events

I am currently in a practice cycle right now, to correct quite a bit of laziness and apathy in my game, mostly dealing with working night shift for the past 7 years or so, and not having opportunity to play many smaller local events, so basically having "nothing to practice for". I am making...

    'Old School Pool' event...??

As a general rule, during the English Renaissance, there were efforts made to change spelling of specific words to make their Greek and Latin origins more evident, whether those extra letters were "pronounced" or not. As someone who has studied German, let me tell you this is very much...

    Predator is doing Eurotour events

Filler is just starting a match, and there is commentary. You can't blame them for not bothering to commentate the early first round matches.. Some of them were pretty trash. Oortmann played terrible.

It's "utility" is the Democratization of the game. Every other sport allows for matching up players of similar levels, so people can get stiff competition without getting absolutely skulldrug. EVERY other sport/game... Amateur chess players are not expected to be forced to play Grandmasters...

Opinions regarding a former top pro playing in and dominating a Poolroom‘s weekly handicapped tournament?

Dude.. WTF? You are posting on a public forum. The EXPECTATION is that everything on here that you post is public forever. People have brought up threads of mine that are 15+ years old. I got no problems discussing my opinions, no matter how far back they go..

Opinions regarding a former top pro playing in and dominating a Poolroom‘s weekly handicapped tournament?

If you are talking about the long butcher papers on the wall that wrapped around City Lights in Tacoma? I thought Mike Zimmerman was the consistent winner.. At least when I was there 95-98.. I actually made the top 2/3 on that list a couple of times before I PCSed to Germany. I beat J.D. once or...

They can be either. I bought a couple of boxes that size in Zeiss brand, because they don't sell alcohol based wipes in Germany..

Opinions regarding a former top pro playing in and dominating a Poolroom‘s weekly handicapped tournament?

Mannnn, that brings back memories. There was a HUGE break and run pot ($3,000+?) up north of Seattle, and I went to watch it one week just before the state gambling commission shut it down.. They did much as you say, and there were collectives that bought larger amount of tickets to get "their...

Opinions regarding a former top pro playing in and dominating a Poolroom‘s weekly handicapped tournament?

Meh. I used to travel an hour to find the toughest tournaments I could once or twice a week in Seattle/Tacoma, the tournaments weren't handicapped, and I was dead money. I did that for close to a year until I wasn't dead money. Your players have no gumption, and that's okay. If they complain...

My own improvement as a player had a little hiccup before I turned 21.. I PCS'ed to Fort Lewis, WA, and played a ton in the day room, but at 20, I was playing seriously, and spent a ton of time at City Lights Billiards in Tacoma. I had no car yet, but would take the bus from the base, play...

The American "pool scene" suffers from the same failings of America, that everything else is.. Someone ALWAYS has to "make money". This leads to the only ways for "most" people to get involved with the game being through a business that has pool tables. Which tends to mean alcohol.. And...

    Table Cloth

I agree. I live in wine country here in Germany where the humidity is constantly high, and switching from 860 to 860HR was a godsend. I can actually practice the more professional position routes without having to slug the CB around the table on 4 1/8" pockets.

I make no bones whatsoever about being unhappy with the state of America these days. We think we are the best at everything, while being demonstrably awful at a ton of things compared to other countries we roundly criticize in our self-delusion. Health Care, Education, Home Affordability...

Yes.. And I have been exposed to how Europe approaches the game differently. You know... The Europeans that are basically dominating pool right now... There "should be" no issue with stating where one's own country is falling down when it comes to sports/competition. The American pool scene is...

Because all the best players are Euro, Chinese, and (to a certain extent) Filipino. One Pocket is not played seriously anywhere else but America. So.. It kind of stands to reason that players that spend most of their time grinding in American tournaments and gambling at One Pocket... Might be a...

    (Un)Popular Opinion on Fargo Rate

I am of the opinion that past generations simply didn't play as well as the modern players.. Full stop. And that's because the equipment/state of safety play at the time, allowed them to get away with it. I have watched some older matches, and the player's fundamentals were solid, but not...
