Action Match Bustamante vs Bergman who do you guys like ?

Doesn't seem all that long ago that Busty was only a rotation player when he camped out at Hard Times. Always open and friendly. Maybe just scouting. lol

    The Hal Houle Post

The Joey Bautista I know posts as JoeyInCali. I admit I didn't come close to reading all posts in this thread. The main reason being from my experience in the past of ignorant people (at least on this topic) posting disrespectful things about a human being who would never do the same thing to...

    The Hal Houle Post

When Hal lived in Garden grove, Calif he had business cards with the name Colliding Spheres. He would show up occasionally at Hard Times and I knew him from his stopping in at Yankee Doodles in Long Beach during the weekly Saturday tournament run by my friend Jack Ide for over 22 years. I spent...

Your grip description matches that of Hal Mix who at one time worked with Nick Varner. He claimed that Billy Incardonna had the best example of a proper grip, especially with downward pointing thumb.

The small group of us who worked with the Kinister/Eckhert alignment method never experienced the shoulder problems that you mentioned. It seemed very simple and consistent for all of us. Body balance needed adjustment.

The manner that Eckert shows is the same that Bert Kinister showed on one his fundamental videos many years ago. The biggest difference is that after he has made his body adjustment that aligns the cue, wrist, elbow and shoulder he then steps back with his right foot rather than moving into the...

I get down the same way. My eye is on the object ball all the way down as it seems to get my head in the right position. I am getting the "Dance Step" pretty well--needs work but coming along. The "Ladies and Gentlemen" has given me a rhythm that allows a very good PEP and easier to stay locked...

    Katana shaft

Never have hit with a Katana but have hit with many other LD's but have always gone back to Maple. I am currently hitting with a maple LD made by my cue maker--JoeyInCali. Like all of his cues I have hit with I am liking this shaft. Pushing 80 is way too young to quit. I am 84+ and try to get...

Double hit question I haven't found in WPA rules

Sorry don't know the snooker rule. To me if you are frozen to the cue ball you must hit away from the ball to avoid a "Push" I don't see how it can be otherwise--especially consistently as you must know everyones stroke length. It's frozen so you must be pushing. The guys I play with agree it...

Double hit question I haven't found in WPA rules

Has always been difficult for me to determine how any of those shots can not be a "Push."

Picture of a hustler at work

Anymore stories about Jack? The last few years of his career he played out of Hard Times in Bellflower. I watched him take down Toby of Las Vegas for 40K. During this time he never matched up bad. His final run was a thing of beauty. Toby again, This time in Las Vegas. Jack played bad enough to...

    Jackpot Cues

I can easily see where a person could feel that they were deceived. I can just as easily see where a person could be happy enough with the cue that they don't care. If I design a cue but it is not made by me it is not my cue and my name should not be used as the maker. Pretty simple. I have...

Hal Houle, not an aiming thread

Hal above all was a gentleman and a learned man about this sport we play. I knew him in the late 80's and early 90's when he still lived in So. Calif. There were more than a few people who benefited from his knowledge and systems at both Hard Times & Yankee Doodles. He would often times come to...

    Gamble or Not

When I stopped gambling many, many years ago there were no exceptions--including pool. I have played in many tournaments against players both my equals and many much, much better. In pool there is a constant learning curve and I have always believed that you play the table not just an opponent...
